The tour is officially over in Australia, and we have so many people to thank! In particular, our trailer sponsor U-Haul Australia. Thank you for supporting circus arts, and helping us transport all the things we needed to bring workshops and shows to so many regional and city communities!

Wandering Circus... the story so far

In November 2018, the first Wandering Circus tour was produced by Xanthe Naylor and Tania Whetu. It began in Dunedin, New Zealand and continued on through Wanaka, Christchurch, Granity, Nelson, Picton and Wellington. In each city and town, the troupe offered workshops to youth programs, schools, flow arts communities, circuses and the general public. They showcased the breadth of their talents and experience through live performance, entertaining people of in every city and town they touched down in - from spin festivals (Circulation, Under the Spinfluence) to community events, children’s shows, late night circus cabaret, and an invitation to perform at the historic Tapu te Ranga Marae.

The New Zealand based troupe was comprised of performers from the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand, skilled in a variety of styles including flow arts, cabaret, aerials, dance, clowning, music, and spoken word.

In 2019, we are bringing the Wandering Circus to Australia over October and November, headed by Melbourne-based cabaret performer and producer Sophie deLightful. If you are interested in offering your community, school, or youth program as a destination for workshops, or have a venue to offer for shows, please contact the Wandering Circus team on [email protected].
