Evening Light (left) and Green Silence (right)

Evening Light developed over a burnt sienna ground, with layers building warmth and depth over time. Traces of that structure remain visible, so the ground continues to sit within the surface.
Green Silence, created earlier using a cool ground, moves in a fresher, more fluid direction. Although the works were developed separately, they now sit in a quiet dialogue — warm and cool, dense and open.

I’ve included a few process images as well, showing how the paintings shifted from early structure through to their final form.

A new painting recently completed in the studio.

I’ve included several images that show different stages in its development — beginning with the transfer drawing and moving through the gradual layering of colour and form.

The work evolved through transparent layers, allowing shapes to emerge and dissolve as the composition developed. I’m particularly interested in the balance between geometry and landscape — where structured forms begin to suggest memory, space and atmosphere.

The small vertical red accents act as visual anchors, quietly guiding movement through the composition. I hope you enjoy seeing a little of the process behind the finished painting.

My painting practice has been gradually evolving.

Earlier works explored stronger contrasts and saturated colour. Recently I’ve been drawn toward quieter palettes inspired by nature — greens, greys and earthy tones — while simplifying the compositions.

Influenced in part by the ideas of Piet Mondrian, I’ve been interested in reducing forms to their essential structure and abstracting elements of landscape into calm geometric arrangements.

Another aim has been to move the work closer to the language of interior spaces — paintings that sit comfortably within architecture and design while still holding a quiet sense of atmosphere.

Do you prefer the richer reds or the quieter greens?

Andrew and I have been traveling through Paris and Italy over the last two weeks. In Italy, we've been in Milan, Blevio, Siena, San Gimignano and now we're in Sorrento. We'll be in Sicily for 2 weeks after that. I'm being inspired by the beauty in the landscapes, architecture and the local people we're meeting. I hope to bring new energy to my artwork. Here's a small glimpse of our travels so far.

Hi everyone,
It’s almost here! I’m so excited to share that the opening night of my exhibition In Motion is Friday, August 8, from 6–8pm at the EHA Gallery in the St Peter's Town Hall complex.

I'm deeply grateful for all the encouragement and support I’ve received—it has kept me focused on creating art that speaks to movement, presence, and wellbeing.

Opening night will also feature a powerful 3-minute performance by my friend and performing artist Bentalion Lilim, titled Climb to Walk—a piece not to be missed.

If you can’t make it to the opening, the exhibition runs until September 20.
📍101 Payneham Road, St Peters.

I can’t wait to see you there!

✨ Exciting news! ✨
I’m thrilled to announce that performance artist Bentalion Lilim will debut a powerful 3-minute piece inspired by his personal journey with movement and motion — premiering at the ‘In Motion’ exhibition opening for SALA on August 8! 🎭🖼️
I can’t wait to share more with you soon — it’s going to be something truly special!
In the meantime, here’s an update of the work in progress, featuring the amazing Bentalion Lilim, based on photos captured in the breathtaking Adelaide Parklands. 📸
A huge shoutout to the incredibly talented James Boulton for the gorgeous shots taken for all of the models! 🙌
Stay tuned — there’s so much more to come! 💥

I'm excited to share the early stages of a new work featuring my wonderful friend Marilyn. I had so many stunning reference photos to choose from, but these three really captured her energy and spirit. Can’t wait to see how this one evolves!!
