Vegan for the Planet!

๐ŸŒ Environmental Impact: A study from the University of Oxford found that going vegan can cut your carbon footprint by up to 1.5 tons of CO2 per year!
๐Ÿ’ง Water Conservation: Did you know that producing just one pound of beef uses about 1,800 gallons of water? Compare that to only 39 gallons for a pound of veggies.
๐ŸŒพ Biodiversity: There are thousands of edible plant species, but most people only eat five main animals. Going vegan helps protect our planet's incredible biodiversity!
๐Ÿ’ช Health Benefits: A well-planned vegan diet can reduce the risk of chronic diseasesโ€”backed by research from the American Dietetic Association and more.
๐Ÿพ Ethical Considerations: Choosing a vegan lifestyle means supporting cruelty-free practices. Organizations like PETA advocate for a kinder world for all beings. โค๏ธ

Make a positive impact on the planet, your health, and the lives of animals!

Activism and Algorithms: Using social media as a tool for change.
with Amy Amelia

This presentation will unpack how effective digital communication can supercharge modern animal rights advocacy. Drawing on expertise in social media strategy and online storytelling, I will explore why social platforms are now essential tools for driving awareness, mobilising communities, and creating real-world change for animals.

Attendees will walk away with practical, actionable insights, from how to start and grow a compelling online presence to the tactics that help your message cut through, build momentum, and inspire action. Whether youโ€™re new to digital activism or looking to level up, this session will equip you with the tools to make your social media presence most effective.

Amy is an animal rights activist who leverages her expertise in social media and communications to reach millions online. She runs her own activism channel, known for its satirical take on animal rights issues, and manages social media accounts with a combined following of over one million. Specialising in engaging, high-impact content, Amy works across diverse fieldsโ€”from politics to food brandingโ€”to amplify the message of animal rights and inspire meaningful change.

We are incredibly grateful to welcome Animals Australia & VegKit as our 2026 Speaker Sponsor.

Animals Australia has spent decades working to expose animal cruelty, challenge the systems that allow animals to suffer, and inspire people to make kinder choices. Through VegKit, they also provide practical, welcoming resources that make exploring vegan food and living more compassionately feel achievable.

Their generous support helps us bring knowledgeable and inspiring speakers to Vegan Festival Adelaide including Doctors For Nutrition, who will be holding a live cooking demonstration at 12.30pm on Saturday 5 December.

Come along to discover how delicious, nourishing and accessible plant-based cooking can be and leave with ideas you can use in your own kitchen.

Thank you, Animals Australia and VegKit, for supporting our festival and helping us continue to educate, inspire and advocate for animals.

Grass Roots: Bringing Veganism Back to Basics

From 2015 to 2023, veganism experienced incredible growth.

We saw more cafรฉs embracing plant-based menus, more products lining supermarket shelves, more documentaries, more conversations, and more people discovering a compassionate way of living. It felt like we were building real momentum.

But over the past few years, life has become more challenging. Cost of living pressures, busy schedules and shifting priorities have made it harder for many people to stay connectedโ€”not only to veganism, but also to the sense of community that once brought us together.

That's why the theme for Vegan Festival Adelaide 2026 is Grass Roots.

This year, we're returning to the foundations of what veganism has always been about.

Simply choosing compassion whenever we can.

We'll be celebrating affordable, everyday plant-based cooking, hearing from inspiring activists and sanctuary founders, learning practical ways to advocate for animals, discovering ethical businesses, and reconnecting with a community that shares the belief that every kind choice matters.

Whether you've been vegan for decades, are just starting your journey, or perhaps feel like you've drifted away from the movement, we hope you'll join us. There is no judgementโ€”only an invitation to reconnect, learn something new, and remember why we started.

๐Ÿ‘‘ Introducing our 2026 Vegan Festival Adelaide Patron... Zacchary Bird! ๐Ÿ‘‘

After five (or maybe six!) years of inspiring, entertaining and feeding the Vegan Festival Adelaide community, we thought it was finally time to make it official.

Some people earn medals. Some receive keys to the city. Zac? He gets something even better...

A crown. ๐Ÿ‘‘

For years, Zac has generously shared his time, talent and passion with our festival from incredible cooking demonstrations to getting crowds moving with Animal Rights Aerobics, always bringing warmth, humour and the reminder that veganism can be joyful, practical and delicious.

As Patron, Zac becomes the festival's figurehead and ambassador. He'll help champion the festival, promote what we're about, represent our community, and, of course, be there on the day celebrating with thousands of fellow vegans and the vegan-curious.

There's no contract, no secret salary, and definitely no royal budget (sorry, Zac). Just our enormous appreciation for someone who has supported this festival and the animals, year after year.

We're incredibly grateful to have him wearing the (completely imaginary... for now) crown as we head into our Grass Roots festival, bringing veganism back to basics and celebrating the community that makes it all possible.

Long live Vegan Royalty. ๐Ÿ‘‘
