Trying something new. It's for me, and it's always harder doing something for me because there's no impetus, plus I never know whether it's any good or not. But I am a little obsessed with foxes at the moment, they represent Frank (my cat) to me. My little foxy boy. So I am trying to do something I will be happy to hang on my own wall. We'll see.

Five ducks 'done' (there will be tweaks as I continue). Have a favourite duck and a most hated, but all in all they'll do. Now just gotta add one whole extra duck and work out how to paint reflections on water without ducking it all up...

Painting multiples of anything is rather like cooking pancakes. The first couple really should be for the dog, but by the fourth and fifth you're getting the hang of it.
Or, in other words, I really ought to learn to paint the first couple as throwaways before starting on the canvas. Which explains to me what the 'oil sketches' left aside by the masters were for. Dur. Ah well, duck four and five base coat are giving me hope. Annoyingly, however, now need a duck six... :(

(Old masters probably used to plan their space properly in advance too.)

But never been commissioned to paint before so chin up, I'm learning! :)

Ps: duck feet at odd angles are...odd.
