Layla Dodd, flute with Won Jung Lee, piano followed by Emily Yang, piano

We are delighted to present the second concert in our Junior Lunch Hour Series on Wednesday 19 July, at 12.30pm featuring Layla Dodd, flute with Won Jung Lee, piano followed by Emily Yang, piano, performing a program featuring Genin, Dvorak, Bach, Scarlatti, Mozart, Chopin and more.

An award winning flutist, and Peter’s Girls’ student, Layla has embraced the performing opportunities that have been provided to her and is always keen to perform and gain musical experiences. She is thrilled to be performing with Recitals Australia and will be doing so with pianist Won Jung Lee. Won Jung Lee has a keen interest in exploring new music and is a regular performer in the Recitals Australia Lunch Hour Concert Series as soloist, chamber music chamber music player and accompanist.

Our second concert performer Emily is 12 years old and a student at Woodcroft College. Emily started music at five years of age and has been learning music at the Open Music Academy, University of Adelaide since 2019. Last year Emily achieved her AMEB violin grade 7 exam A+ and won the grade 7 prize and this year achieved an AMEB piano grade 8 exam with an A+.

We hope you can join us in sharing the sounds and talents of these outstanding junior performers.

Lunch Hour Guest Concert

While we prepare our Spring program, we are delighted to present a mid-season guest recital on Wednesday 12 July at 12.30pm featuring Bridget McCullough viola, with Simón Pazos Quintana, piano, performing a program featuring Bach, Reger, Clarke and Schumann.

Dual scholarship recipient Bridget, is a classical violist who is studying at the Elder Conservatorium of Music. She is also currently studying with Stephen King and plays with a range of orchestras and various chamber ensembles. Bridget will perform with classical pianist, accompanist, teacher and scholarship winner Simón, who is a well known and recognised face of the Lunch Hour Series having performed at numerous concerts this year.

We hope you can join us in sharing the sounds and talents of these fantastic young performers.

Aiyana Ishino, violin, Bridget Wong, oboe and GuZheng (Chinese harp), both with Simόn Pazos Quintana, piano

Join us on Wednesday 5 July for our first Junior Lunch Hour Series concert performance featuring Aiyana Ishino, violin, followed by Bridget Wong, oboe and guzheng (Chinese harp), both with Simόn Pazos Quintana, piano. Aiyana will perform a program featuring Telemann, Sutherland, de Sarasate, and Accolay and Bridget will perform a program that features Saint-Saëns, Marcello, and pieces for the Guzheng.

Aiyana is a current music scholarship holder at Pulteney Grammar School and leads the Senior String Orchestra. She is also studying violin at the Elder Conservatorium's Open Music Academy.

An aspiring, young oboist, Bridget Wong studies at Brighton Secondary School through the Special Interest Music program. She also plays both the GuzHeng (Chinese Harp) and piano and has been blessed with an abundance of opportunities to learn and perform with a diverse range of mentors.

Both of these exceptionally talented young musicians will perform with classical pianist, accompanist, teacher and scholarship winner Simón Pazos Quintana. Simón is a very familiar face at our Lunch Hour Series concerts and we are looking forward to welcoming him back and having him accompany Aiyana and Bridget. We hope you can join us in sharing the sounds and talents of these gifted young locals.

Join us for the final of the Recitals Australia Autumn Lunch Hour Series to see our six finalists compete for prizes of up to $1,000! We look forward to seeing performances from Danny Yang, piano, Cindy Luo, piano, Jonathan Wong, piano, James Skelton, clarinet, Nicky Poznak, piano, and Tim Tran, viola.

We also welcome back alumnus and Recitals Australia Fellowship participant Gemma Vice on flute to perform during the event while the judges deliberate on Final placings.

Join us on Wednesday 28 June at our concert performance featuring 2 guest quartets from the Adelaide Youth Orchestras - Pernambuco String Quartet and the Mahogany String Quartet. They will perform a program featuring Mozart, Mendelssohn, Haydn and Borodin. Consisting of some of South Australia’s brightest high school musicians and directed by Keith Crellin, both of these immensely talented quartets will delight with their enchanting sounds and we hope that you can join us to share these special guest performances.

Opal Guitar Quartet

Join us on Wednesday 21 June at our concert performance featuring guest artists, Opal Guitar Quartet, performing a program featuring Nigel Westlake, James Rawley, Marian Budoš, and Alexandre Tansman. Adelaide based and consisting of graduates Caleb Lavery-Brook and James Rawley and current students Megan Robson and Alex Clayton, all from the Elder Conservatorium of Music, this dynamic quartet combine to bring to life a programme showcasing the versatility of the guitar.

In addition to performances by the full Opal Guitar Quartet, the concert will also feature members of the ensemble performing works for guitar solo, duo, and trio. Of particular note, James Rawley’s newest compositions for guitar duo will receive their second ever public performance.
