As part of our celebration of Reconciliation Week, ACE staff and volunteers participated in a hands-on workshop led by artist Bryce Cawte.

Based on traditional knowledge and practices, the workshop explored the cultural and medicinal uses of native plants.

Bryce Cawte is an Aboriginal artist based on Kaurna Yerta. His bloodlines connect him to the communities of Ngarrindjeri and Kaurna through his matrilineal lines, and Wirangu, Mirning and Kokatha through his patrilineal lines.

His practice centres on traditional woodcarving, cultural artefact-making and the preservation of cultural knowledge through contemporary practice. Drawing on ancestral techniques while embracing innovation, Bryce’s work reflects a deep commitment to culture, community and intergenerational knowledge sharing.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for 'Anarchive: Digesting The World', a day-long program of talks, performances, screenings, food and music at ACE.

The Anarchive project invites lively conversation with a radical past. Across ACE and FUMA, twelve new artist commissions are presented, alongside works from South Australia’s extraordinary history as an epicentre of “post-object” art practice. A special edition of Artlink acts as an extended reader – bringing a critical eye to experimental art then and now.

As part of 'Anarchive: Digesting the World', Doris P**n from Videotage, Hong Kong will present a talk and screening exploring the organisation's moving image archive and the development of experimental media art in Hong Kong across the 1980s and 1990s.

Videotage, founded in 1986 as an artist-run collective, has evolved into an independent cultural network dedicated to the promotion of media art and the cultivation of critical discussion surrounding technology. Committed to bridging media art across different eras and fostering public engagement, the organisation operates through three core pillars—programming, archiving and exchanges—to support artists and communities at all levels.

See Doris P**n’s talk and screening in the gallery at 2.15pm this Saturday. Full schedule available on our website – https://ace.gallery/whats-on/live-programs/anarchive-digesting-the-world
