As part of our celebration of Reconciliation Week, ACE staff and volunteers participated in a hands-on workshop led by artist Bryce Cawte.
Based on traditional knowledge and practices, the workshop explored the cultural and medicinal uses of native plants.
Bryce Cawte is an Aboriginal artist based on Kaurna Yerta. His bloodlines connect him to the communities of Ngarrindjeri and Kaurna through his matrilineal lines, and Wirangu, Mirning and Kokatha through his patrilineal lines.
His practice centres on traditional woodcarving, cultural artefact-making and the preservation of cultural knowledge through contemporary practice. Drawing on ancestral techniques while embracing innovation, Bryce’s work reflects a deep commitment to culture, community and intergenerational knowledge sharing.
