Ancient wisdom meets contemporary sound in Waypeople.

Led by Wellington-based saxophonist and composer Jake Baxendale, Waypeople brings together an extraordinary ensemble of musicians from Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia for a luminous musical journey inspired by Ursula K. Le Guin’s interpretation of the Tao Te Ching.

Drawing on jazz, Chinese classical music and improvisation, Waypeople transforms timeless Taoist philosophy into a rich and meditative live experience, weaving together voice, woodwinds, piano, bass, drums and guzheng in a performance of profound beauty and connection.

Waypeople comes to Nexus Arts on the 3rd of July at 7pm. Tickets are available at the link in bio.
