James Dodd will be speaking about his practice in an artist talk at FUTUREJUICE Gallery, alongside fellow artist Marian Sandberg, this evening from 6pm.

Moderated by Andre Zufferey, this talk will explore the ways in which both artists’ work has experimented between two opposing poles; the LLM as driver of one’s artistic agency, and self-constructed analogue-adjacent kinetic artworks.

‘Automation Bias’ will be on display at FUTUREJUICE, 248 Flinders Street, Kaurna Yarta (Adelaide), until 30 August.

Hari Koutlakis’ immersive solo exhibition ‘Mass Information’ is currently showing at Hugo Michell Gallery, presented as part of the 2026 South Australian Living Artist Festival (SALA)

About his work, Hari shares: “I look at my art as a vessel – to keep life interesting, to keep engaging with it in an interesting way and it’s created all these opportunities. It’s been a way for me to engage with people, community, environment. It’s also been a way for me to live. I’ve been flown to different places around the world. As personal as the work is, people call it a style, I think it’s all come from a desire to connect and be with people, and also a desire to give back: to give back the feeling I get when I see something so inspiring it leaves me curious.”

Tony Garifalakis’ ‘Endism (doom sessions)’ is currently showing at Hugo Michell Gallery.

Tony Garifalakis’ practice over the past two decades has constituted an examination of social relations and the semiotics of power. His work particularly engages the ways in which the meaning of signs, symbols and images might be ascribed, conveyed or transformed through culture, and how conventional notions of hierarchy and status might be undermined or subverted.

This work was presented in Kate Just’s ‘A Sign of the Times’ at Hugo Michell Gallery in early 2026. This body of work comprises complex hand knitted homages to potent text-based, political, public signs by other artists that continue to resonate in our current political and social climate. The series expands upon her approach in past works such as Feminist Fan and Protest Signs, in which the artist deployed knitting to re-materialise and pay homage to significant historical queer/feminist artworks and protest texts, and affirm their position in the canon of art history.

A recent feature article in The New Daily, highlights the launch of the national tour of Richard Lewer’s ‘Steve’, with notes on the work itself and conversation with Richard Lewer.

Richard Lewer’s ‘Steve’ is a gentle exploration of a family coming to terms with a dementia diagnosis, first presented at the National Gallery of Australia.

The first iteration of this touring exhibition will be launched at the Port Pirie Regional Gallery, SA, on 28th August and continue until 8th November 2026.

Julia Robinson is showing in ‘Strange Sensation’ which is now open at the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery, The University of Western Australia.

Julia’s work in the exhibition, ‘Woundwood’, was first shown in ‘The Felling Place’ at Hugo Michell Gallery and was recently acquired into the UWA Lawrence Wilson Art Collection.

Co-curated by Bryony Nainby and Brent Harrison, ‘Strange Sensation’ brings together contemporary artworks ranging from distorted portraits to surreal sculpture. Drawn from The University of Western Australia’s Art Collection, Strange Sensation includes artworks which unsettle our perceptions of reality and disturb our sense of the familiar. The exhibition includes artists whose practices investigate identity, memory, bodily transformation, haunting and sensory perception, provoking the subconscious forces which underlie our encounters with images.

‘Strange Sensation’ will be on display at the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery, The University of Western Australia, until 19 September 2026.

Hari approaches the work with no preconceived ideas, allowing it to evolve in an organic manner within his distinctive graphic style.

Tony Garifalakis’ work engages the ways in which the meaning of signs, symbols and images might be ascribed, conveyed or transformed.

In ‘Endism (doom sessions)’, Garifalakis manipulates images through both digital and analogue processes to create a suite of works with his signature juxtapositions of image and text, and the deployment of dark, incongruous humour.
