Stuffin' the funk back into country!! TREVA, now a dynamic 4-piece, transmogrified to its current potent posse of dashing international braggadocio in December 2019. Performing a broad stylistic range of catchy, heartfelt, melodic originals the mob expands on the broad life experiences of front man Benedict Sweeney. Reticent to be pigeonholed, TREVA’s “Bluecrop” style is a contemporary meld of blu
es, country, rock, pop, punk, funk and soul – with a touch of greasy bo****lo to boot! TREVA transcends definition, with an international mélange of players including Peter Kelly (UK - drums), Paul Walker (NI - bass) and Peter Spooner (SA - keys) crafting a unique musical chemistry, both uplifting and moving. Musical influences draw from artists as diverse as Monteverdi to Bob Wills, Joni Mitchell to The Blue Nile and spinning endless LP’s of Lennon/McCartney, Brian Wilson, Bowie's Aladdin Sane and the London Philharmonic's Beethoven's 5th as a child. Drawing upon big raw emotions like love, lust, hope, spite, revenge and regret - lyrically the songs speak to our times while musically the band maintains a distinct feel of humoured sophistication in their electric live performances. Benedict Sweeney – Vocals & Guitars
Raised on a Brahman stud in the tropical foothills of the Atherton Tablelands (Far North Queensland) Sweeney has a distinct streak of 70’s AM country radio in his compositions. His creative melting pot was further influenced by Countdown, MTV, in concert with two decades of gigging plus an 8-year stint living in southern California. A professional life focused within music technology sales and live production has further exposed Ben to a multitude of international artists and performers. Whether it be television acting roles, leaving chunks of flesh on Kanye West’s stage (yes, there is a scar), Nusrat Fati Ali Kahn sitting on his sofa, to touring outback Queensland mining towns, playing cliché Parisian bars or jamming at Brazilian music expositions - there is much in life to draw from. Paul Walker – Bass & Vocals
Paul Walker's first paid gig as a bass player was as a spotty sixteen year old playing for Rory Gallagher's legendary harmonica player Sam Mahood in a tour of Northern Irish Golf clubs - and he'd argue that it's all been downhill from there. The spots soon went but his love of playing the bass endures. His last few years in Ireland were spent playing 'Devil Woman ' by Cliff Richard with his beloved Long Faces in dodgy bars in Donegal. He still maintains that song has the best bass line ever recorded. Paul emigrated to Australia in 2014 with his family and has been enjoying playing with a number of bands since including Dick Dandy and his Wingmen, The Broken Arrows and The Juggernauts. Peter Spooner – Keyboards & Vocals
Rocks the keys like no other. Partially because of having only partial use of his left hand, due to a fairly recent industrial accident involving a circular saw and plastic surgeon. He's played in a plethora of Adelaide's great bands since the 80's including Plan B and The Dix. He's also quite handy on bass guitar. Peter Kelly – Drums & Percussion
The elder statesman of the band and also it's newest member. Peter brings with him a wealth of musical knowledge and certified class when it comes to threads. Always seeking to lay down a solid foundation his musicality and technique brings the band into a realm of class they've not been able to achieve previously.
