As the writer, producer and director, Marina Barbaro loves nothing more than to craft stories and create shared experiences. She has produced children’s theatre for the Fringe Festival, City of Adelaide and City of Charles Sturt Council. She has studied writing for performance at Adelaide Uni and professional writing at the Adelaide College of the Arts where she received an Arts Excellence Award upon graduation. This is what she likes best about working on Return to the Village:

“This show is my heart on a plate. I love watching families come into the space and seeing them transported to another place as the stress or busyness of their day melts away. It’s great seeing the parents become as invested as the children as they jump into the village world.”

Todd Pursche is our Technical Director. He specialises in pre and post-production across film, radio, TV and theatre. You’ll often find him up a ladder setting lights, behind a mixing desk or troubleshooting all the things that go wrong. Outside of the village you’ll find him at Flinders Uni providing tech support to screen and media students. This is what he likes best about working on Return to the Village:

“I see their faces light up when they’re doing their roles, I see joy, confidence and enthusiasm and it gives me hope for the world.”

Bianca Barbaro is a fibre artist who has created a bespoke macrame installation for the village. Her work has included a number of commissions from curved booth screens at the Palais in Semaphore to a rope bridge for a bookstore, and a Kookaburra costume. This is what she likes best about working on Return to the Village:

“The wonder in the kids’ eyes as they become engrossed in the story and tasks is beautiful. They are deep in thought, they have a mission, and they work with their fellow villagers on the task at hand, much less restrained from the rigidity of social structures and inhibitions we can become burdened with as adults.”
