Diploma of Visual Arts, Adelaide College of the Arts (ACARTS) - completion date December 2022. I have been inspired by the power and wonder of art from a young age and have maintained a constant relationship with it throughout my life. I embrace my expressive nature and passion to create by seeing my art as a continual process, while f

ulfilling my personal drive to expand on my creative knowledge and practices. I am proud to establish my professional profile as my live catalogue of works, featuring past and present works, events, exhibitions, and share experiences from my current artistic venture of pursuing study at ACARTS. I aspire to continue to exhibit my art professionally and establish myself as a working artist, while building relationships and gaining experience within the industry.

Studio 6 - Orange, Blue & Green, 2026, Acrylic Paint on Cardboard

I have completed 2 of my series, next comes the circle.

Do any of these do something to your eyes or mind? If so let me know.

I’m exploring the phenomenon of Illusory Motion with colour. Which I have discovered does some pretty trippy things to us humans.

Colour is an event.
Colours are unstable.
Art is an experience.

Hiya, Can YOU help me with my studies? I’m trying to gather information on what the general public knows about the impacts of the FAST FASHION industry and crisis.

With this simple question.
How long do you think it takes for 6,000kg of textile waste to be dumped to landfill?

Your answers become a part of my research which I will document in my journal.

Thank you for your help! X

Eeep Today is Progress Review time and I’m first on the ranks to present.

Here is my little set up in the Light Square Gallery

My concept is “The Dark Side of Fashion” as I create a hand painted second hand suit that displays through symbols the harsh impact the Fast Fashion industry has on our planet and environment.

Did you know?! EVERY 10 MINUTES 6,000kgs of CLOTHES ARE SENT TO LANDFILL IN AUSTRALIA OR INCINERATED 🔥

Studio 6 - Today’s Progress of Making Wallpaper

Today involved rolling Gesso on my surface to prime the paper.
Next once the Gesso was dry it was time to roll on the layer of orange paint, which will be the base layer colour for my wallpaper.
The next step is to screen print blue zigzags all over the wallpaper.
I need to trial different blue inks and acrylic paint to make sure it is opaque enough to contrast against the orange surface.
My aim with this project is to cover the entire space I have created in the 3rd year studio to create an overwhelming display of colour and pattern that will hopefully make an impact on a sensory level.
Today I discovered the paper I was so generously donated by ACARTS appears to buckle when wet - it is not really designed for paint but this is an experiment so all learning and outcomes are welcome.

Studio 6 - Patterns exploring simultaneous contrast and illusory motion - 30 x 30 cm

This time I’m exploring what it’s like to combine 3 colour wavelengths in the hopes I still achieve a sense of motion and movement with colour, line and shape.
Some I believe work better than others.

Studio 6 - Patterns Exploring Simultaneous Contrast & Illusory Motion

Here are some of my experiments of exploring the illusory effects of colour and pattern.
Though may seem simple at first glance I am working with combining different coloured wavelengths of light to generate movement and motion in static form. The effects are best experienced in real life compared to photographic images as the screen dampens the magic due to colour correction.
With these patterns I have conducted experiments on people gauging their immediate responses and reactions with very intriguing results.
Some people see some images and patterns as dancing, calm, wiggling, disgust, pain, repulsion, horrible, happy and gross.
My conclusions have come to that people are experiencing a psychological, physiological and emotional response. Which is rather exciting!
Who knew that colour and basic line and shape could have so much power!

Please feel free to comment if you also experienced anything from what you saw, as it all goes towards my research and studies.

New Artist Logo - Redesigned

It has been fun playing around with my logo for my studies, with the concept of establishing a brand for myself and with every brand there is always a logo. So why not rebrand myself and create a logo that looks and feels more me!

I traced around my actual head then did my doodle designs over the top that represent ideas and creativity.

It’s fun, playful and I think looks professional too.

What do you think?

Port Adelaide Lighthouse, 2026 (New Years Day)

On New Years Day I felt a big urge to start off my year with drawing. A goal of mine this year is to do more art for just me and to go out and draw in public. So I headed to Port Adelaide to draw the iconic Lighthouse.
When I draw I use a permanent marker, no pencil, no eraser I just draw what I see and feel in the moment. The permanent marker (my trusty Artline 90 Chisel Tip) gives me confidence and control that no other drawing medium has given me before.
I hope that this is the start of a good year ahead.
Do Art.
More Art.
Art.
Create!
