الجامعة اللبنانية الثقافية في العالم – أستراليا تشارك في يوم الأنزاك وتؤكد وفاء الجالية اللبنانية لتاريخ التضحيات المشتركة.

السبت ۲۵ نيسان ۲۰۲٦، في مشهدٍ يجسّد عمق الوفاء والانتماء، شاركت الجامعة اللبنانية الثقافية في العالم، بتوجيه من رئيس المجلس القاري في أستراليا ونيوزيلندا السيد أنطوان كرم، في إحياء يوم الانزاك في مختلف الولايات الأسترالية، تأكيدًا على احترام الجالية اللبنانية لتاريخ أستراليا الوطني، وتقديرًا لتضحيات الجنود والمحاربين الذين قدّموا أرواحهم دفاعًا عن الحرية والسلام والكرامة الإنسانية.

ويُعد يوم الانزاك من أبرز المناسبات الوطنية في أستراليا، حيث تتوحد فيه القلوب والذاكرة تكريمًا للشهداء والمحاربين القدامى الذين سطروا صفحات مشرّفة من البطولة والتضحية. وفي هذه المناسبة، يستحضر أبناء الجالية اللبنانية أيضًا الدور التاريخي للبنانيين الذين شاركوا في الحربين العالميتين الأولى والثانية، وقدموا شهداء وتضحيات كبيرة في سبيل الدفاع عن المبادئ الإنسانية والعدالة والكرامة.

وقد جاءت مشاركة الجامعة اللبنانية الثقافية في العالم انطلاقًا من هذا الإرث التاريخي المشترك، وتجسيدًا للحضور اللبناني الفاعل في المجتمع الأسترالي، ووفاءً لوطنٍ احتضن أبناء الجالية وأتاح لهم المساهمة في بنائه وازدهاره، مع الحفاظ على هويتهم اللبنانية الأصيلة وانتمائهم الوطني الصادق.

وشملت المشاركة مختلف الولايات الأسترالية، حيث مثّل الجامعة في ولاية نيو ساوث ويلز – سيدني مسؤول الشؤون الاجتماعية في المجلس القاري السيد رفول رحمة، في ولاية فكتوريا رئيس مجلس الولاية نعمة البيطار وامين الصندوق محمد المصطفى، في ساوث استراليا رئيس مجلس الولاية ايلي بركات ، وفي العاصمة كانبرا رئيس مجلس الولاية جورج سلوم، وفي ولاية كوينزلاند منسق الجامعة عبدالله الهاني.

كما قام ممثلو الجامعة في مختلف الولايات بتسليم مديري فروع منظمة RSL رسائل رسمية صادرة عن المجلس القاري، عبّرت عن تقدير الجامعة لهذه المناسبة الوطنية الكبيرة، وأكدت احترام الجالية اللبنانية لتضحيات الجنود والمحاربين القدامى، واعتزازها بالعلاقات التاريخية والإنسانية التي تجمع اللبنانيين بالمجتمع الأسترالي.

إن هذه المشاركة الوطنية الواسعة تعكس رسالة الجامعة اللبنانية الثقافية في العالم، القائمة على ترسيخ قيم الوفاء والانتماء، وتعزيز حضور أبناء الجالية اللبنانية كشركاء فاعلين في بناء المجتمعات التي يعيشون فيها، مع الحفاظ على جذورهم وهويتهم ورسالتهم الحضارية.

في يوم الانزاك، نقف بخشوع أمام تضحيات الأبطال، ونؤكد أن الأمم العظيمة تُبنى بذاكرة لا تنسى، ووفاء لا ينقطع، ورسالة إنسانية تحفظ الكرامة وتصون التاريخ.

رحم الله الشهداء، وحفظ أستراليا ولبنان، وأدام بين الشعبين روابط الصداقة والمحبة والاحترام المتبادل.

April 25, 2026. In a scene that reflects deep loyalty and belonging, the Lebanese Cultural Union in the World – Australia, under the direction of the Continental President for Australia and New Zealand, Mr Antoine Karam, participated in ANZAC Day commemorations across various Australian states, affirming the Lebanese community’s respect for Australia’s national history and its appreciation of the sacrifices made by soldiers and veterans who gave their lives in defence of freedom, peace, and human dignity.

ANZAC Day is considered one of Australia’s most significant national occasions, where hearts and memories unite in honouring the fallen heroes and veterans who wrote remarkable chapters of courage and sacrifice. On this occasion, members of the Lebanese community also proudly recall the historical role of Lebanese people who participated in both World War I and World War II, offering great sacrifices and martyrs in defence of humanitarian values, justice, and dignity.

The participation of the Lebanese Cultural Union in the World stems from this shared historical legacy and reflects the active Lebanese presence within Australian society, as well as loyalty to a country that welcomed generations of Lebanese migrants and allowed them to contribute to its growth and prosperity while preserving their Lebanese identity and national belonging.

The participation covered several Australian states. In New South Wales – Sydney, the Union was represented by Mr Raffoul Rahmeh, (GRC Social Affairs officer), in Victoria, the State Council President Mr Nehme El Bitar, accompanied by Treasurer Mr Mohammad Al Mustafa, in South Australia, the State Council President Mr Elie Barakat, in the Australian Capital Territory – Canberra, the State council President Mr George Saloum and in Queensland, the WLCU Coordinator Mr Abdullah Hani.

Representatives of the Union in all states also delivered official letters from the WLCU GRC to the managers of RSL branches, expressing the Union’s appreciation for this important national occasion and reaffirming the Lebanese community’s respect for the sacrifices of soldiers and veterans, as well as pride in the historical and humanitarian ties linking Lebanese Australians to the wider Australian community.





This broad national participation reflects the mission of the WLCU, based on strengthening the values of loyalty and belonging, and reinforcing the presence of the Lebanese community as active partners
in building the societies in which they live, while preserving their roots, identity, and civilisational message.

On ANZAC Day, we stand in reverence before the sacrifices of heroes and affirm that great nations are built upon memory that never fades, loyalty that never ends, and a human message that preserves dignity and protects history.

May God bless the souls of the fallen, protect Australia and Lebanon, and preserve the bonds of friendship, love, and mutual respect between both peoples.

On this ANZAC Day, we pause to remember and honour the courage, sacrifice, and spirit of the young men and women who gave their lives for freedom.

At the World Lebanese Cultural Union, we deeply understand what that sacrifice means. It reflects the same love, resilience, and devotion we have seen in Lebanon’s history, where so many have given so much for their homeland.

Today, we stand in respect and gratitude, remembering all who served and all who sacrificed across nations and generations.

Statement on ANZAC Day - A Tribute of Loyalty and Appreciation to Australia and Its
Fallen
On ANZAC Day, we extend our highest respect and appreciation to Australia and its
people, in commemoration of the noble sacrifices made by Australian servicemen and
women in the cause of freedom and the defence of shared human values, particularly
during World War I and World War II.
This day stands as a unifying national moment, through which we Honor the courage,
dedication, and spirit of sacrifice that have defined the nation, and express our deep
gratitude to all who have served and given for a safer and more just future.
The Australian historical memory also records the notable participation of individuals
of Lebanese origin within the armed forces, who made significant sacrifices and among
whom were fallen soldiers, reflecting their deep commitment to the defence of
Australia and the values embodied by this day.
On this occasion, we affirm with pride that the Lebanese community in Australia has
been, and continues to be, an integral part of the fabric of this society, contributing to
its national journey and development, and upholding the values of loyalty, belonging,
and solidarity.
We pay tribute to the memory of the fallen and express our enduring respect and
loyalty to Australia, its nation and its people.

المؤتمر الرابع والعشرون للجامعة اللبنانية الثقافية في العالم ينتخب فارس وهبة رئيساً عالمياً ويكرّم نجاد عصام فارس في لوس أنجلوس

استضافت قارة أمريكا الشماليّة أعمال المؤتمر الرابع والعشرين للجامعة اللبنانيّة الثقافيّة في العالم، في مدينة لوس أنجلوس – كاليفورنيا، على مدى ثلاثة أيام اختُتمت في 30 كانون الثاني 2026، بمشاركة وفود اغترابية من مختلف دول الانتشار.

وناقش المؤتمرون القضايا الداخلية والإدارية والمالية للجامعة، واتخذوا القرارات المناسبة للمرحلة المقبلة، كما بحثوا في الأوضاع اللبنانية العامة وهموم اللبنانيين في الوطن والاغتراب، وصوّتوا على مجموعة من التوصيات الاغترابية والوطنية التي سيُعلنها الرئيس العالمي الجديد لاحقاً.

وكعادتها، وعملاً بأحكام القانون الأساسي والنظام الداخلي، والتزاماً بالمبادئ الديمقراطية وتداول المسؤولية كل سنتين، انعقد المؤتمر كهيئة انتخابية. وشُكّلت لجنة بإشراف الأمانة العامة تولّت تحديد الهيئات الناخبة والإشراف على العملية الانتخابية.

وقد أُعلن انتخاب فارس وهبة رئيساً عالمياً للجامعة اللبنانية الثقافية في العالم بالتزكية، خلفاً للرئيس العالمي السابق روجيه هاني. كما فاز خليل خوري بمنصب نائب الرئيس، خلفاً لخوان صليبا، فيما اختار الرئيس الجديد باسم مدوّر أميناً عاماً، خلفاً للأمين العام السابق جورج أبي رعد.

كذلك التأم مجلس الأمناء، حيث تمّ التجديد للرئيس العالمي السابق ميشال الدويهي رئيساً للمجلس، وانتُخب الدكتور شكيب رمّال نائباً للرئيس.

وعلى صعيد الشبيبة، انتخب مجلس الشبيبة العالمي ليندا خوري من المكسيك رئيسة له، وأدريانا ضاهر من بوليفيا أمينة عامة.

وعلى هامش المؤتمر العالمي، عقدت قارة أمريكا الشمالية مؤتمرها القاري، حيث تم انتخاب إدي عبد الكريم رئيساً قارياً، وميلاد عويجان نائباً للرئيس عن الولايات المتحدة، ومروان صادر نائباً للرئيس عن كندا.

وفي تقليد سنوي يجمع البعد الاغترابي بالوطني، أقامت الجامعة حفلاً تكريمياً حضرته الوفود العالمية ورؤساء الجامعة السابقون وشخصيات اغترابية ولبنانية بارزة، من بينهم النائبان اللبنانيان سليم الصايغ وفادي كرم، إلى جانب فعاليات رسمية أميركية. وخلال الحفل كرّمت الجامعة السيد نجاد عصام فارس تقديراً لعطاءاته في الولايات المتحدة ودعمه المستمر للبنان.

ويأتي هذا المؤتمر ليؤكد استمرار دور الجامعة اللبنانية الثقافية في العالم كإطار جامع للطاقات الاغترابية، وحاضنة للعمل الثقافي والوطني في خدمة لبنان واللبنانيين في دول الانتشار

The Continental President of the World Lebanese Cultural Union Visits Adelaide and Honours the State President Elie Baraket

As part of the official visit of the global delegation of the World Lebanese Cultural Union (WLCU) to Australia, and in continuation of his tour, the Continental President for Australia and New Zealand, Mr. Antoine Karam, made an official visit to the city of Adelaide on November 1 and 2, 2025, accompanied by his wife. The visit was organised in coordination with Father Loubnan Tarabay, pastor of the Adelaide Maronite Parish.

Mr. Karam had previously met Father Tarabay in Sydney, where they agreed on the visit, which included honouring the President of the WLCU in Adelaide, Mr. Elie Barakat.

The first day of the visit included a tour of Adelaide and concluded with a business dinner attended by Father Tarabay and several businessmen from the city, led by the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Gaby Chahoud . The dinner featured a friendly discussion about the situation of the Lebanese community in Adelaide and ways to strengthen communication with it, in addition to general diaspora and national topics, particularly the Lebanese elections.

The second day, Sunday, began with attendance at the Holy Mass in St. Maroun Church, where Father Tarabay welcomed Mr. Karam and his wife, who had come from Melbourne. During the service, Mr. Karam read the first reading.

After the Mass, attendees gathered in the church hall, where Father Tarabay delivered a welcoming speech, followed by a brief address from Mr. Karam. He began by conveying greetings from the WLCU’s World President and Secretary-General, who expressed their wish that they could have joined the visit.

Mr. Karam then introduced the WLCU and its active role in Australia and across other continents, inviting members of the Lebanese community to join and participate in its activities. He also emphasized the importance of registering on the Lebanese electoral rolls in preparation for the upcoming elections and encouraged attendees to obtain a national ID or a new passport to secure their right to vote.

At the conclusion of the gathering, Mr. Karam honored Mr. Elie Barakat with a commemorative shield on behalf of the World President and the Secretary-General of the WLCU. The shield was presented by Father Lebanon Tarabay in recognition of Mr. Barakat’s efforts in serving the Union and the Lebanese community in Adelaide.

Mr. Karam and his wife later joined a communal lunch alongside the President of the Adelaide State Council and his wife, as well as Mr. Johnny Rizk, the Council’s digital platforms officer, and his wife. The meeting included discussions on ways to strengthen continental activities in Adelaide, especially after several attendees expressed their interest in engaging with and joining the WLCU in the near future.

The World Lebanese Cultural Union Delegation Lays a Wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Canberra

Canberra – October 12, 2025:
As part of an official visit to Australia, the World President of the World Lebanese Cultural Union, Roger Hani, and the World Secretary General, George Abi Raad, laid a wreath of flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Australian capital, Canberra, in honour of those who fell defending their homelands.

The delegation was accompanied by the Continental President for Australia and New Zealand, Antoine Karam, Continental Council Social Affairs Advisor, Widad Rahmeh, Canberra State Council President, George Salloum, Vice President, Paul Khoury, Secretary, Khalil Farah, and Treasurer, Danny Khoury.

Those present expressed their deep appreciation for the soldiers’ sacrifices, affirming that this tribute also carries a message of loyalty from the Lebanese community in Australia to the shared values of freedom and peace that unite peoples.

A touching coincidence was noted during the ceremony: the honored soldier had served in Lebanon during World War II and was martyred in Egypt, adding an emotional dimension to the event that reflects the deep historical ties between Lebanon and Australia.

This initiative comes as part of the World Lebanese Cultural Union’s ongoing humanitarian and national mission to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Lebanon and the diaspora countries, in appreciation of the values that unite nations in their struggle for dignity and freedom.
