📺PRIMETIME📺 Creative development.
Between the 20th and 26th April I had the joy of taking part in a development of a new Aussie musical by the powerhouse creative duo that is , creators of Primetime! What a dynamite team of actor-singers I got to spend the week with as we tested new material and had the honour of presenting the first full length version of this exciting new work to invited audiences in Adelaide.

I had the task of looking after the character Pamela, one of the former prize models on the fictional game show Race Against the Clock. It was a challenging role both dramaturgically and musically, but our creators were so supportive and generous in allowing us the space and trust to take risks with our respective characters. All I can say is 'watch this space' as Mim and Joe are onto a winner, and everybody loves to watch a winner win 🎶. Cheers to Aussie talent 🥂. There is so much of it and I'm reminded so frequently how cool it is to be able to work in the arts for a living.

First Quarter 26 highlights❤️
It's been a very fulfilling and fast-paced start to the year. I've been quiet on socials because I've needed to retreat and conserve energy.

Over the past 3.5 months, I've: performed in 3 arts festivals across 2 states: Adelaide Fringe, BrisAsia, and Womadelaide; I've played with some brilliant performers in my own theatrical work NYMPH; and mentored a group of promising original artists as part of Interplay. We've just finished a week of intensive creativity at Nexus Arts and that deserves its own post and reflection in due time. I'm grateful that my days are filled with creative and thoughtful people in my circle.

I took some downtime over Easter long weekend and unplugged from the world for a few days. It was so nice. The week ahead will be just as busy as I work on another exciting new project - not my own, but one by a dynamic duo creating their own original musical (more to come).

I'm reflecting a lot, partly because my grant acquittals are due, but also because every period of intense work needs a period of rest and recovery. I'm learning that the seasons of peace and quiet are just as significant. I'm enjoying writing in my studio again. I've had great conversations with artists and I'm working on new material, too. I'm just over here quietly daydreaming, creating worlds, and finding ways to share them.

I'm relishing the human connection, something I highly value, and in line with that I am grateful to everyone who creates and adds value to the world in that way. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my first quarter. I can't wait to share the things I've been working on in Q2.

Two weeks ago, the first development of my musical closed its season. As much as I enjoyed the outcome of presenting this work to its first audiences during the Adelaide Fringe, I valued the creative process even more. The presentation of art is often given most of the attention and praise, but it is the ‘becoming’ phase that I’m most interested in – and it is in the ‘becoming’ phase that Dragonfly lives.✨️

I want to thank my team for coming with me on this pilgrimage through unknown territory. They braved the land of the Sleepwalkers and emerged with a renewed sense of self – each so very skilled and generous with their contributions to the work. It was a true joy to work with the cast and creatives of NYMPH, and I’m so happy that Adelaide audiences appreciated their talents as much as I did.❤️

To everyone who came and witnessed Luna and Sol’s journey, I hope it spoke to you in some way. Each of us carries ancient wisdom within us, an inner knowing that defies logic. When you don’t know the way, ‘seek within’. I hope you continue to support us in the creation of this brand new work. You are as much a part of it as it is a part of you now.🌘

Thank you to the reviewers and critics who’ve given me valuable feedback on the compositions and libretto. I’m very happy that the first stage of Dragonfly – NYMPH – now exists in the world. Like a proud mother, I will continue to nurture it. I return to my writing desk and music studio to cultivate bigger ideas around the work. I can’t wait to share the next chapter with you soon.

03.03🌔NEW MUSIC VIDEO🌖

It's a "blood moon" total Lunar Eclipse tonight, so releasing a song sung by our very own Luna seems fitting.🌙

“Never Before” is a song that features in Dragonfly, a new musical which is currently being presented in the 2026 Adelaide Fringe under the development titled NYMPH – the adolescent stage of a dragonfly’s life cycle.

This song was recorded at Wizard Tone Studios during four weeks of creative development featuring the cast of NYMPH, a poetic folk musical.

It is a song sung by the character, Luna, a Sleepwalker from a culture of conformists. She has always lived by the rules of her people until her serendipitous meeting with Sol, a Daydreamer, during an eclipse.

🎉Happy opening night to all the artists, creatives, and producers that breathe life into this monumental festival! Big love from the cast and creatives of NYMPH ✨️

It takes courage to put new work out into the world and it takes many hours of planning, rehearsing, developing, trialling and "erroring" to reach a state of presentation for this time of year. I see you.

Those who don't walk this path may ask themselves "why? Why go through so much effort?"

Well, in a world that is heavy, artists still believe in magic and that the wonderment of our inner child deserves attention. We believe that laughter and joy is important so it's worth writing anecdotes or songs to make people chortle. We believe in the power of dance, acro, and theatre to remind ourselves of the expanse of human ingenuity. We believe in the process of play and creating something, not placing all the importance on outcome alone. Most of all, we believe that the world needs art even if many of the leaders in our society don't value it enough.
