✨ EID MUBARAK" to everyone celebrating.

I decorated a bag with henna for a gift, and turned it into a homemade lantern while it was drying.

Wishing everyone a blessed Eid from & my family. 🌙✨

🌿 Guidelines for practice - this is what I tend to focus on when I practice. After starting off as someone who was very hyper critical of everything I did, I have turned that around. "Just start" is one of the reasons that I can do instinctive designs as much as I do. A lot of my jobs have a time limit & I have to decorate as many people as possible - not over thinking and starting is a great way to surprise myself as well as clients . All of these steps are important, but the "doing" is probably the most significant. And number 7 ....

This is the 3rd year growing henna ( Lawsonia Inermis). I have to say they have gone bonkers with the recent heatwave, and not a wrinkle on any of the leaves ! This plant likes it hoottttt 🔥 Which I don't . .

Fingers crossed that this is the year I can harvest the leaves & get my own henna powder to try. I will settle for flowers though. Apparently they smell divine.

I will keep you updated. ( but this really, truly is where natural henna powder comes from - the dried, crushed, sifted & mixed leaves of this miracle plant 🌿

A natural henna professional since 2006, “Velvet HENNA” began life as a self taught, henna mad actor, singer and belly dancer. I am pleased to say that I have added to my skill set by investing in training with the wonderful “ Henna Caravan” run henna intensive Conferences, held yearly in Los Angeles. I have attended 4, one as a guest Instructor. It is fitting that my training at Conferences began in Sydney, with “the Australian Henna Circle”. I was hooked after that . Training with other artists and professionals has added such a depth of knowledge, but you will never catch me calling myself an expert. To remain a student and be open to learning is my intention.

I am Insured, and carry a Police check, a WWC check {working with children} and a WVP check {Working with Vulnerable persons.}

I make, use and only endorse NATURAL HENNA. I was taught by the wonderful Jyoti Jain from Chennai how to prepare and mix my own fresh henna paste, both for the best quality fresh henna, and the certainty of knowing exactly what ISN’T in my paste. Ask me my ingredients, I will always tell you. Beware the chemical products available!!! Anything shelf stable is NOT natural henna. My henna paste is mixed fresh, poured into cello cones and frozen until sale or use.

”Velvet HENNA “ is a Boutique henna outfit. I generally work solo, but do have the opportunity to work on the teams of other professiona artists, both in South Australia, Interstate and Overseas. I have years of experience at Private appointments, Corporate Work, Henna Workshops,Festivals and Public Events, as well as Destination henna appointments for those wanting safe, natural body art to accompany their travels.
