Hello! Katie here! Want to know what drove me to become a celebrant?
The truth is, when I look back at my career, it feels like every step has been leading me here.
I've spent more than 20 years working in performance, education, events, and storytelling. I've stood on stages in front of thousands of people, taught hundreds of students, directed productions, coordinated events, written scripts, and helped people find the confidence to share their stories.
And at the heart of all of it has been one thing: connection.
As a performer, I've learned how to engage an audience, read a room, and create moments that make people laugh, cry, and feel something.
As a teacher, I've learned how to listen deeply, ask the right questions, and help people express themselves authentically.
As an event coordinator, director and producer, I've learned how to stay calm under pressure, think on my feet, manage countless moving parts, and ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
As a writer and creative, I've learned how to take someone's story and turn it into something meaningful, personal, and memorable.
Being a celebrant allows me to bring all of those skills together.
When I write your ceremony, I'm not filling in a template. I'm crafting a story.
When I stand in front of your family and friends, I'm not performing. I'm creating a space where you can be fully present in one of the most important moments of your life.
When things don't go exactly to plan (because weddings are beautifully unpredictable), years of live performance and event experience mean I can adapt, problem-solve, and keep everything feeling effortless.
Most importantly, I know that your wedding isn't about me.
It's about you.
My role is simply to guide, support, celebrate, and tell your story in a way that feels genuine, heartfelt, and completely yours.
And honestly, I can't imagine a better way to use all the skills I've gathered over the years than helping couples start their next chapter together.
