Big opportunities can start with a single application.

For artist Kerryn Levy, a Quick Response Grant provided the time and resources to help develop a new body of ceramic work for Fragmentary State at Adelaide Central School of Art.

Kumarangk — Exhibition opens next weekend.

Kumarangk is an intergenerational love letter for Ngarrindjeri women; an exhibition that explores the survival of culture, and resistance to colonial destruction.

Caring for Country. Supporting future generations. Building meaningful creative careers.

These themes have shaped artist Chris De Rosa's career and are central to the commissioned artwork she created for Country Arts SA's Strategic Plan 2026–2028.

In our latest artist profile, Chris reflects on her journey from nursing to a career in the arts, her connection to the Fleurieu Peninsula coastline, and the inspiration behind Amphibolis C Nymphs.

The work explores the relationship between people and the natural world through the story of three cross generational women tending to the sea. Inspired by mythology, ecology and community care, the artwork is a powerful reflection on our responsibility to nurture the places that sustain us.

Country Arts SA is pleased to announce Port Willunga sculpture artist Sarra Tzijan as the latest recipient of our Grindell's Hut Artist Residency in the Flinders Ranges.

The annual residency supports an artist to be immersed in their practice for three weeks in the breathtaking Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges National Park – with no phone or internet access!

Sarra intends to use the opportunity to connect with the Nepabunna community, create new adornment (worn accessories and ornaments) work, and hold a metal-crafting session for locals.

We are pleased to welcome Christie Anthoney as the new Chair of the Country Arts SA Board.

An experienced arts leader, Christie brings expertise across senior management, artistic direction, public policy, event delivery and strategic planning. She is deeply committed to creating positive social outcomes through the arts, supporting artists, strengthening communities and fostering wellbeing.

Christie also has a longstanding connection to Country Arts SA, having previously served on the Board from 2014 to 2024.

Her appointment comes alongside other recent additions to the Board, with Emma Daly, Lee-Ann Tjunypa Buckskin, Michael Waite and Jack Ritchie joining over the past few months.

A new chapter has begun for Varcoe Foundry, which reopened earlier this month following its refurbishment.

The venue welcomed almost 100 patrons for the launch of Country Arts SA's new live music series, Soundworks, with performances by Katie Aspel, Nathan May and Julian Ferraretto.

Located in the former windmill factory adjacent to the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre in Mount Gambier, the event marked an exciting moment for the venue and its place in the region's arts community.

We were also pleased to welcome Assistant Minister for Arts Sarah Andrews for the occasion.

Got a project opportunity that can't wait?

Quick Response Grants are designed to support artists and arts workers when unexpected opportunities arise, helping them take up professional development, skills development, or small project opportunities at short notice.

A recent recipient, Travis Akbar, received support for Dumb Things, Proof of Concept - a screen project showcasing regional and First Nations talent. The project strengthens creative collaborations and career development.

Country Arts SA is proud to announce our film Kumarangk: Sacred Women’s Business will premiere as part of Adelaide Film Festival 2026.

The feature-length documentary unravels the historically sidelined story of the Ngarrindjeri women protestors who resisted the building of the bridge from Goolwa to Hindmarsh Island (Kumarangk) in the 1990s.

Written and directed by Ngarrindjeri woman Tracey Rigney and co-produced by Ngarrindjeri man and Country Arts SA First Nations Arts and Cultural Manager Josh Trevorrow alongside experienced producer Carolyn Johnson, this film has been a labour of love.
