Tonight the laughs will be provided by our two hard-hitters Lydia Boyd and Heather Joan, among a plethora of local and international funny-makers from 8pm. $7 pints available throughout the show.

Lydia Boyd brings an aecerbic bite to the stage, taking no prisoners in her obtuse take on the world. Heather Joan gives a masterclass on not suffering fools gladly, and saying the things the rest of us are afraid to.

With comedy sometimes you don't know what you're in for. It's like a gig flyer that says 'music'. So i thought i'd talk a little about how i choose comics for Cooked.

- Does comedy for everybody. I've seen these people perform to two drunk men and a dog and the dog needed water afterwards. They're good, they can read a room and they have enough self awareness to try and be funny, rather than edgy.

- Has experience. Each week I will have a spot for a newcomer, but generally my comics will have been working for a long time, mainly for no money or recognition but for the love of making people laugh

- Suits my taste. As a curator, I choose who i think is the best, and that's subjective. I'm not trying to please everyone, but i have a lot of love for any comedy as long as it's sharp, critical and engaging, and the laughs are loud. Ask my punters from VAULT Yarraville
