An inspiring moment at Verbier Festival
Leonidas Kavakos speaks about the vision behind Apollon Ensemble and the artistic freedom of performing one player per voice — where chamber music becomes a way of thinking, listening, and breathing together.

Standing ovation in the legendary Musikverein Goldener Saal for Leonidas Kavakos and the ApollΩn Ensemble
Following Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, it was a profound honour to receive such warmth from the Viennese public.

🎻🇰🇷Our 2nd encore in Seoul— a familiar Bach, but in a new light.
The famous Preludio from the Violin Partita No. 3, arranged for string orchestra by our violist Ilias Livieratos
The idea was inspired by Cantata BWV 29, where Bach transformed the same music into a brilliant movement for organ and orchestra.
In this version, the solo violin takes the organ’s role, and the strings weave around the solo line — revealing a new dimension of light and energy.

A moment from a few days ago in Verbier that still lingers.
The applause just before our encore — spontaneous, generous, full of heart.
And after Bach’s Aria, the silence that turned into something truly moving.

Grateful to have shared this with such an audience.

🎻💥 A broken string. A seamless continuation!

MEET IASON MARMARAS

During a recent concert in Asia, when Leonidas Kavakos's string snapped mid-phrase, the music didn’t stop — it transformed. In perfect synchronicity, Iason Marmaras, harpsichordist of Apollon Ensemble, responded with grace and instinct, turning accident into art!

🎹 Iason Marmaras – harpsichordist of Apollon Ensemble – is a keyboardist, singer, and conductor with a passion for improvisation and historical performance.

He appears regularly with leading early music ensembles such as Ca****la Pratensis, La Risonanza, Ex Silentio, and Armonia Atenea, and is a founding member of The Scroll Ensemble. As director of the Schola Cantorum Sancti Pauli in Athens, he promotes Renaissance polyphony through services and concerts across Europe.

Winner of prestigious international prizes in basso continuo, Iason taught at the Athens Conservatoire and is Senior Lecturer at the MDW – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.

This summer, he joins Leonidas Kavakos once again — this time in Verbier, performing Bach sonatas in a much-anticipated duo recital.

Only 5 days to go!
Our very first concert with the APOLLΩΝ Ensemble takes place on July 20 at the Verbier Festival — and what a way to begin:

🎻 Joined by Ilya GRINGOLTS for the Double Concerto

We’re deeply honored and full of anticipation. See you in Verbier!

And for those who can’t be there in person — the concert will be broadcast later (21.07) on Medici.tv 🌍

✨ Welcome to APOLLΩΝ!

Founded in 2022 by Leonidas Kavakos , APOLLΩN is a chamber ensemble uniting leading Greek musicians of the new generation.

Our debut recording — the Bach violin concertos, released by Sony Classical— marked the beginning of a journey that has already taken us to stages in Asia, the Musikverein, and beyond.

With upcoming performances at Verbier in July and other major festivals we’re opening this space to share our music, our vision, and moments from the path ahead.

Follow us for updates, glimpses behind the scenes, and the sounds that shape our identity.
