📽 Around Serbs, real-life can sometimes feel like walking into a film.

🎭 Or so it seemed, talking to the Viennese-born Austrian actor of Serbian origin Aleksandar Saša Petrović. A talk about movies, life, and what it means to be Viennese.

Actor Aleksandar Saša Petrović feels indestructible when he thinks in Serbian. A talk about movies, life and what it means to be Viennese.

Larisa Cerne on playing a scene from the movie “Misery”: When I first got offered the role of Annie and watched the scene from Misery that I was supposed to recreate I was skeptical. I was afraid that it would be just me making a big fuss, screaming and scouting at another actor like a crazy person. I feared that the role wouldn't be challenging enough, but it ended up being and was therefore a really good experience that I greatly enjoyed.
First of all I had to understand her motivation as well as the source of Annie’s anger. Her anger and how it escalated from her being content to starting to get pi**ed off to being sarcastic and then to blank rage and violence was harder to portrait than expected and it took me a long time to get the hang of it. I had to learn to pace myself and build tension over the course of the scene which I struggled with at first but think I succeeded doing at the end. I am really grateful for the opportunity I got, the amazing people I worked with as well as their encouragement and hope that I did a good job.

Stella Karagiorgou on playing Norma Jennings from the TV Series Twin Peaks: I always felt fascinated by theater. I felt drawn to the stage, the lights, the energy, the unpredictability of it. I always enjoyed watching the plays or reading the books but I never really thought I could actually act, or be a part of a theater group.
So, when I first joined the academy I was actually nervous and a bit scared if I could fit in. But it turned out an amazing experience! I got to know all kinds of people with all kinds of talents and discover hidden aspects of myself.
When presented with this project, I thought it was really cool that we could actually do something creative even in this difficult times. I hadn‘t seen Twin Peaks to be honest and I didn’t even know my character. But this turned out to be a learning experience as I had to watch the scenes over and over and rehearse and think until I could understand and relate with my character. During the shooting, the whole experience was super worth it and it felt great. I am looking forward to the new things Theater has to offer!

Vanja Radenkovic on playing Shelly Jonson from the TV series Twin Peaks: Working with people from different cultures was one of the best experiences in my life until now! We are all so various, yet we have a beautiful thing in common. The love for acting!

Recreating a scene from the iconic “Twin Peaks” still means a lot to me and it was my pleasure playing the role of Shelly, even for just a minute or two.

Shelly is so much different from me, so it was a challenge to understand her and her actions. But once I did that, it was a real fun playing her. With each rehearsal, my partner and I, felt more and more comfortable in the scene.

Then the filming day came. I`d be lying if I said that I wasn`t nervous at all. I have been acting in the theatre for years, but not in front of the camera. This was the first scene I ever shot, and I must admit that I liked the atmosphere a lot. Just the cameraman saying “lights, camera, action!” and the director applauding by informing “It´s a wrap!” made me feel like a real actress.

I´ve learned so much on the set and I`m sure that I will use the tips in the future. The main thing, that I understood, is that there is no reason to be nervous while acting and that it`s important to enjoy yourself while playing.

I will forever be thankful to the Academy of Acting “Stanislavski” for always teaching me new things and creating special memories!

Rubén Asensio on playing a scene from the movie LÉON: THE PROFESSIONAL, 1994.: “Before I recorded the scene I didn't have any idea how actors prepare for a scene and how hard is to act
I have enjoyed a lot the rehearsals during the last months, the best part is that it has been having fun all the time, with no space any bad moment. I hope it keeps being like that, laughing, knowing each other better and having this beautiful experience.

After recording the scene I still don't have any idea how to do these things, but I am so thankful to have discovered this new world and to realize of how much I can improve and that I can act much more than I thought.

A great thank you to Stanislavski Academy for giving us the space and the resources, and a bigger one to Marina for teaching us so many things, for having the patience and for always keeping the good mood and the passion”.

Sabina Dobrić on palying Matilda, a character from the movie LÉON: THE PROFESSIONAL, (1994): "Some roles are easier to choose, some roles are more difficult because they are more daring. Sometimes you have to dare." — Isabelle Huppert

"It was really a daring project and almost it needed longer time it turned out very well in the end. It was a great experience and it was fun to act with Ruben. We never had time to practice it together, Marina our director and meanwhile friend was practicing with us separate. Acting is for me not just performance because every act is a feeling. Every situation is causing an emotion."

Weronika Szwej on playing the short scene from a movie MULHOLLAND DRIVE, (2001): "I have never thought I can act. I was actually not thinking about it, not considering even a possibility to try. At the beginning of the project I had a full-time job in Vienna. I had a boyfriend and hobby. There was nothing missing in my life.

My best friend wanted to do a cool project together. She told me about the acting classes in this Academy. At first I was skeptical, I couldn't see myself on the stage. Why should I put myself in a stressful situation for no reason in my free time? Go once with me! Try it out! She said to me. I went. Once. Just to try out.

It was amazing! I had fun, I forgot about everything. I was in a different world with a bunch of new people, who were becoming whole new individuals on the stage. I am always curious what next improvisation will bring up. How will it develop? With just scratches of plan we were creating new scenes. It was an eye-opening experience and I discovered a part of me that I didn't know existed. I am a creative person. I didn't know that about myself.

To finalize the project, we recorded scenes from existing movies. I got part as Betty in MULHOLLAND DRIVE. Short. Not even a minute. There was almost no talking. I was terrified. How should I do this?! Acting with no talking? I have always thought that talking was my strength. My boyfriend was laughing at me when I was walking around the room in our apartment trying to build a character and kind of act. We were showing our progress in the classes, getting feedback and trying again.

The day of the recording arrived. I was freaking out. I was making a lot of effort not to show how panicked I was. First take. I was still shaking a bit. At least I felt like I was shaking. Second take. It was already better. Third. Fourth. Fifth. And I don't know how many shoots we took, but I felt like me again. Great. It was bringing me joy and I am looking forward to a new project".
