‘Roots & Companions: Becoming Kin’
Kata Bitowt (LT)

Nov 12th, Wednesday
7:00-8:30PM

At Semmelweisklinik
37 Hockegasse 1180 Vienna Austria

An audio exploration of encounters that reshape life.

A collective listening session of the audio documentary, followed by a Q&A.

This documentary follows three stories of meeting and connection. An architect nurtures lichen in urban spaces, inviting humans to encounter hidden, wild layers of the city. A facilitator of an electronic improvisation music camp creates a space where strangers come together to make sound beyond their individual capacities. A traveler who rescued a stray puppy now reshapes her life around their companionship, seeking space in nature where they can both roam and thrive.
Through these encounters, Roots & Companions explores the subtle, unpredictable rituals of meeting: how relationships form, how attention and care transform ordinary life, and how strangers — human or nonhuman — can become the closest companions.

Mauna
dir. Ieva Juodelytė / fiction / 15 min. / 2025
When the mother of four children goes on vacation for the first time, she does not encounter a wonderful natural landscape, but the inconvenience of being without family, household and children, in which she discovers the need to hear herself.

The One Who Knows
dir. Eglė Davidavičė / animation / 12 min. / 2024
Ūla is an introverted and anxious teenager who likes swimming. One ordinary morning at swimming practice, she is taken on an unexpected adventure, through which she grows-up, learns to accept herself and to see her body anew.

Beer
dir. Milda Baginskaitė / documentary / 24 min. / 2024
In a charming Lithuanian village, a father and son’s delicate bond is tested as they carry on an ancestral beer-making tradition in preparation for the annual harvest celebration.

I Buy
dir. Martynas Norvaišas / documentary / 8 min. / 2024
A diverse crowd of shop goers at the mall parking lot shares what has ended up in their trunks after the weekly shopping. Item after item this collective shopping list becomes a meditative flow of things and evokes a peculiar nostalgic feeling. Both an urge to set roots deep in life and curiosity to experience it beyond the mundane starts to unveil behind the necessities satisfying day-to-day life. Oddly, this short doc reflects buying in terms of existentialism, not consumerism.

SPA
dir. Ieva Šakalytė / fiction / 12 min. / 2024
Four exhausted women, who don’t know each other, accidentally meet at the SPA center. There they get into uncomfortable situations, which happens to be the first step to face their personal problems. Moreover, there is a fifth character, it’s the SPA center itself, trying to be perfect, but failing.

‘Linger, Oh Beautiful Moment’

Oct 15th, Wednesday
19:30PM

At Admiral Kino
Burggasse 119, 1070 Vienna, Austria

The programme ‘Linger, Oh Beautiful Moment’ is prepared by Lithuanian Shorts

Ieva Juodelytė, Eglė Davidavičė, Milda Baginskaitė, Martynas Norvaišas, Ieva Šakalytė
A program of five recent Lithuanian short films explores everyday moments and follows people through their daily lives. Whether sticking to routine or stepping away from it, the characters encounter experiences that slowly shape their understanding of themselves. From a mother facing silence during a solo vacation, a teenage girl finding confidence in her body, to a father and son keeping old family traditions alive – these stories show how simple acts — like shopping lists, shared traditions, or moments of rest — can create space for reflection, connection, and change. Together, these films remind us that not everything valuable has to be useful — some things matter simply because they feel true.

Duration: 71 min.

Concert
Ministry of Echology with Souldja
Oct 7th, Tuesday
20:30

At Kramladen
U-Bahnbogen 39-40, 1080 Vienna

Ministry of Echology is a band from Vilnius, Lithuania, that’s been exploring reggae and dub music for over 15 years already. Having released five full albums, a couple of singles and an EP this year, it is now a six piece band, that continues drawing inspiration from the splashes of reggae and dub and mixing it with attitude, going to territories that cross genre boundaries. Singing not only to sooth, but to disturb as well, not only to bring good vibes, but to tell worries.
“Ministry of Echology” has toured in Poland, Germany, France, Latvia, Estonia and is playing at a steady rate in Lithuania, now coming to Vienna for the first time. Make sure to come and tell your friends, because this is a music situation you can enjoy the best live!

Souldja is concentrated live energy—driving rhythms and grooves from a tightly-knit group of close friends who have played together for many years and developed a unique and authentic style with a recognizable signature. Serious topics are sung about just as much as the joys and worries of everyday life. In times of growing global sorrow, however, lightness and humor should not be neglected—ideally combined with the fun that the band exudes on stage, which is contagious—meant to be enjoyed, reflected upon, danced to, and sung along with!
