Art & Science
Master Degree Programme

The objective of the “Art & Science” master degree programme is to investigate the relationships between different artistic and scientific representational cultures and their respective cognitive and research methods. An inter- and transdisciplinary approach and project-oriented education should stimulate interaction between model and theory construction, a

nd the application of methods, in particular, in the arts and sciences. The central element of the master programme is a project orientation that takes account for the fact that in a “scientificised” world many everyday topics in society are permeated by scientific knowledge, which can lead to controversial discussions. In part, these discussions link complex fields of knowledge and their respective specialised knowledge and represent different contributions to our society’s development. Here is a point of convergence for the - quite often different - questions that art and science pose and a creative crossroads emerges for finding or rejecting answers. The requirements for the admission are an artistic qualification, evaluated on the basis of the submitted portfolio and through the admission exam, and to have completed a domestic or equivalent foreign Bachelor or Master study in the fields of fine arts, media arts, design, architecture, humanistic and cultural studies, computer sciences, or natural sciences.

Film Synopsis
Set in Hamburg in 1942, Truth and Treason tells the true story of Helmuth Hübener, among the youngest known resistance fighters against National Socialism. Raised as a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon), Helmuth confronts an ethical breakdown when his ecclesiastical authority, Bishop Arthur Zander, calls for obedience to the regime. The tension sharpens with the persecution and disappearance of his close friend Salomon Schwarz. Hübener turns to forbidden BBC broadcasts, classified as “Feindsender.” He accesses suppressed information of the war and the regime’s distortions. With a small circle of peers, he produces and distributes pamphlets. They challenge official narratives and disrupt the informational control of the state. As the Gestapo closes in, his actions transcend youthful defiance, becoming a rigorous engagement with truth and the fragile threshold between knowledge and action in National Socialist Germany.

Production Summary
Truth and Treason (2025) is an international historical drama produced by Kaleidoscope Pictures in collaboration with Baltic Film Services, and distributed by Angel Studios. The film was shot on location in Lithuania, with principal photography taking place in Vilnius over a 50-day schedule beginning in spring 2024. Baltic Film Services—known for servicing major international productions such as Chernobyl—provided local production infrastructure, positioning the project within a broader trend of U.S.–European co-productions utilizing Baltic locations for period reconstruction.
Originally developed as limited series under the working title Truth & Conviction, the project evolved during production into a hybrid format: a standalone feature film alongside an expanded four-part episodic version. The film features cinematography by Bianca Cline and a score by Aaron Zigman, combining a contemporary visual approach with a traditionally orchestrated musical framework. With a runtime of approximately 121 minutes and English-language production, the film reflects a transatlantic production model in which American financing and creative leadership intersect with European locations, crews, and production services.
