When Britain feasts among the stolen, even the statues look away.
In the Parthenon Gallery, Britain’s cultural elite clinked glasses beneath the very Sculptures torn from Athens.
The sacred fragments of a temple turned into wallpaper for power.
Between bites of canapés, they raised their glasses to “cultural unity,” blind to the irony carved in marble around them.
Perhaps this is what Great Britain looks like when it believes itself civilized: linen tablecloths laid neatly over centuries of theft.
The Sculptures stare down, unblinking, as if still asking the simplest question — By what right?!
And we must ask ourselves: if arrogance is celebrated as culture, if hubris is applauded as sophistication, then what remains of civilization itself?
