If you are in Iceland right now make sure to see KARIN SANDER’s solo exhibition ‘Karin Sander 1957-2057’ at the Reykjavík Art Museum – Hafnarhús on view until tomorrow, 20 SEP 2026.

In the exhibition, everyday life becomes new and unexpected, we ourselves become different and part of Karin Sander’s body of work. This comprehensive exhibition, which is part of the Reykjavík Arts Festival, features pieces spanning the artist’s entire career and offers insight into the work of an international conceptual artist who engages with our environment and existence in unexpected and impactful ways.

We are pleased to take part in the 2026 edition of Concilium, dedicated this year to the theme of the Inner Body, with a presentation by ERNST CARAMELLE. His work approaches this theme through the relationship between what is visible and what remains hidden. Rather than depicting the body, Caramelle looks at the structures that shape our perception of space, images and reality.

His paintings and installations often begin with familiar elements such as perspective, architecture, reflection, colour or language, but shift their meaning through subtle interventions. What appears straightforward can become uncertain, revealing a space between what we see and what we understand. In this sense, the Inner Body can also be read as an inner space of perception, something that exists within and behind the visible.

Congratulations to SHEILA HICKS who has been named in the time 100 Art List as one of the world’s most influential artists working today.

‘…American-born, Paris-based Sheila Hicks has been a driving force behind a shift that’s moved fiber art from the periphery to the center of the contemporary art world in the past decade. Now 92, she has been committed to the form since the 1960s, creating works ranging from diminutive geometric weavings to mountains of multicolored yarn that reveal the expressive potential of the material. Having studied fiber for decades with artisans from Mexico to Morocco, she has shown how the same material can be used to create an exuberant waterfall unfurling from the ceiling and a taut experiment in warp and weft the size of a paperback book. Her work continues to find new audiences around the world, with shows in 2026 at the West Bund Museum in Shanghai; the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille, France; and the Instituto Tomie Ohtake in São Paulo. She is also developing a site-specific installation for the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, scheduled to open in December…’

The traditional Japanese haiku is considered to be the shortest poetic form, and its classic structure has been passed down since the seventeenth century. It focuses on observations of nature, the passing of time, and fleeting moments, all of which it condenses into a distinct image using only a few syllables. Michał Budny’s interest in these motifs sets the tone for the works assembled in this exhibition. “The works preserve the framework and rhythm of the composition; they are minimalist and precise at the same time, and their tension arises from observation rather than from spectacle,” says Budny.

The works of the Korean artist Jiyen Lee move at the interface of science, philosophical reflection and sensory perception. In the Zurich showroom, she presents a new series of works dedicated to the forms, structures and metamorphoses of crystals. From her residency in Göschenen, in the middle of the Alpine Swiss landscape, Lee develops a practice that combines geological observations with experimental materials research. She collected crystals on site, smashed them and used the splinters as pictorial material. This creates sculptural structures in which refraction, growth patterns and tectonic forces become visible.
With the RGB group of works, Lee expands her research into the field of structural color. She uses a photonic crystal dispersion originally developed for counterfeit protection, whose nanoscale structure produces color through refraction and interference. Applied between acrylic sheets, unpredictable formations are created under pressure and flow, which fix a moment between intention and chance through UV curing. A distance from the background creates colored shadows and creates a double composition of image and light – painting as a constellation of material, space and perception.

We are excited to share that the PEAC Museum is presenting a solo exhibition by Polish artist Michał Budny (b. 1976, Leszno, Poland) for the first time. Budny’s artistic process begins with close observation of emotions, places, and relationships. The sculptures that emerge from this process draw on a formal language rooted in the traditions of Minimal Art and Constructivism. Despite their reduced abstraction and material presence, his works subtly evoke memories and emotions. For the PEAC Museum, the artist has developed an extensive exhibition featuring works created over the past twenty years.

Michał Budny was born in 1976 in Leszno, Poland. He lives and works between Warsaw and Prague. In 2007, he participated in the 10th Triennial of Small-Scale Sculpture in Fellbach, followed by Manifesta 7 in Trentino in 2008. His subsequent solo exhibitions include presentations at South London Gallery in 2010, Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Düsseldorf, and Kunstmuseum Stuttgart in 2011, the National Gallery of Art in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 2012, Saarlandmuseum in Saarbrücken in 2015, and Kunstmuseum Luzern in 2020/2021.
The artist is already represented in the Paul Ege Art Collection with several works.

LAST CHANCE to see JÖRG SASSE’s solo exhibition ‘Red Doors’ open until this Saturday 29 AUG 2026 at Domgasse 6 in Vienna.

Sasse’s pictorial spaces explore the power of the visual. His compositions consisting of pictorial blocks create a formally reduced, almost perfect reality that nonetheless always entails small elements that confound us. These breaks in particular destabilize our perception, allowing the constant reflection on visual structures to become palpable, perhaps tying this into current debates. Many artists have only recently begun to address issues relating to artificial intelligence, while the key questions in Sasse’s art seem as if he had already anticipated the current situation. The represented objects appear both familiar and strange, near and inaccessible. This impression is additionally reinforced by compositional rigor, abstracted surfaces, and hypnotic colors, letting the photographs oscillate between documentation and construction, between photography and painting.

If you’re spending your summer days at Lake Chiemsee, make sure to see Sheila Hicks’ work ‘Saffron Sentinel’, part of the group exhibition ‘Könnt ihr noch? – Kunst und Demokratie’ at the Neues Schloss Herrenchiemsee, presented by the Pinakothek der Moderne. On view until 18 October 2026.

The exhibition’s title quotes the German techno-rap group Deichkind, calling on us to uphold the values of democracy even in times of growing social tensions.
Against this backdrop, more than 50 key works from the Modern Art Collection are presented in the historic unfinished interiors of Herrenchiemsee Palace. Ten chapters explore the importance of creative self-expression, the fundamental values enshrined in our constitution, and the possibilities for social participation.
