We invite you to collectively play “Sonic Playground” a game in which players create and produce a track together, following different prompts or routes proposed for each game. The main idea to all the different variations of the game is to add different layers of sound within an existing project, intervening them, altering them or dialoguing with them.

* Registration reccommended (for us to stimate space and snacks/food) but not neccesary, via email: soundsq***[email protected]

* If you know that you are coming, we recommend to gather beforehand and/or bring different recordings or sounds of demos you have attended, speeches, recordings of texts/articles, as well as any other more abstract sound of any kind that you want to work it. But we will also work producing our own sounds!

*Bring laptop, headphones and, if possible any DAW/audio editing program of your wish (if you need help with any of these contact us!)

*Text from the 2nd slide:
Next weekend we want to come together in an in-person playing session of the collective sound production game “Sonic Playground” putting the focus on Palestine. Join us for this session in which we wish to generate resonances with Palestinian Resistance protests and create through anger, sadness, and mourning, as well as hope and strength. In the actual moment and specially within the Austrian and German contexts in which artists are being censored by opposing a genocide and art spaces white-washed to support colonialism and imperialism while still co-opting and tokenizing “q***rness” and “race”, and in times in which making art can feel futile, we believe in holding spaces for art creation that are politically explicit and conscious with the ongoing massacre in Palestine.
As a secondary outcome, we wish to make a small podcast/session with the pieces created that day to be played in radios & events, in demonstrations/protests, and available in streaming.

The third meeting of the Ableton User Group Vienna Meetup 🔅 will take place at Flucc Vienna (Deck) on the 10th of February from 12 to 16h. You can pass by anytime!
Our goal is to create a safer space to share music production tips and tricks, as well as give each other constructive and gentle feedback. The project prioritizes women, girls, femmes, q***rs, trans, intersex, gender-nonconforming, and non-binary people but there’s no identity policy. Everyone is welcome! We encourage you to reflect upon your own privileges regarding access to knowledge and tech tools. Our philosophy is to hold the space for others and their experiences, and of course “sharing is caring”! There will be a speaker and a projector if you want to share what you are working on. It’s about connecting and nerding out together.

MUSIK AUS STROM

Exhibition, workshops, concerts and discourse on synthesizers and electronic music
January 19 – February 16, 2024

With a history stretching back over a hundred years, the synthesizer is a defining timbre in the music of recent decades. Nevertheless, electronic sounds, the instruments and players are rarely the focus of a museum exhibition.

„Musik aus Strom“ is a forum for synthesizer players and offers the opportunity to exchange experiences and experiment with synthesizers. Various synthesizers are available for this purpose during opening hours. Various workshops invite you to try them out and make music together. They are aimed at all interested parties and school classes.

The evening program is curated in cooperation with artists, collectives and experts: Klub Montage, Manege Frei, Modular Synthesizer Ensemble, Signal Zirkus, Sounds Q***r.

We are inviting participants to take part in several open calls: Bring your electronic instruments and present your contribution to the discourse.

A cooperation between the Modular Synthesizer Ensemble and the Volkskundemuseum Wien.
„Musik aus Strom“ is supported by the Erste Bank Sponsoring Program – Vermehrt Schönes!

Workshop: „About lyrics“ with Sophia Blenda. 02.12. at 16:30h 🔶🔷
“If you’re a songwriter you are a story writer. The lyrics of a song can open up a whole new world for your music. It’s a way to connect with yourself and the listeners. In my workshop, we speak about how we can learn to overcome the white page in front of us. We will speak about tools and tricks which can help us to write even though we have a bad day and feel no creative spark. And how we can tell a story throughout a whole album/project and how lyrics can get us motivated to write songs.
In my songwriting process lyrics became more and more important throughout the years. When I released my first single in 2018 the feedback mainly focused on the lyrics and since then and because of that I kind of found my „writing tone“.”
Language: English/German (teaching language English, lyrics Eng/Ger)
