📣 Women players can still join us too! Eligible players do not need their country to enter a full women’s team—they can register individually and play in the Women’s Showcase as part of the Women’s United Team.

Der Sänger erhielt mit 79 Jahren eine Nierentransplantation.

Musician Daryl Hall has shared the news that he recently received a kidney transplant thanks to a generous living donor and is already feeling better.

Although Daryl hasn't shared any additional details regarding his kidney transplant, he said “It happened a couple of weeks ago, and I’m already starting to feel better. It was, according to my doctors, a complete success!”

Hall is best known as one half of Hall & Oates, the pop and soul duo he formed with John Oates in the early 1970s, which brought us hits such as 'Maneater' and 'Out of Touch'.

Organtransplantation: Erfolgreiche Kreuzspende

Das Genfer Universitätsspital hat gemeinsam mit drei französischen Spitälern erstmals eine internationale Vierfach-Nierentransplantation durchgeführt. An der komplexen Austauschoperation waren vier Spenderinnen und Spender sowie vier Empfänger beteiligt. Nach Angaben der beteiligten Kliniken handelt es sich dabei um eine Premiere.

Das sogenannte Kreuzspendeverfahren kommt zum Einsatz, wenn eine lebende spendende Person mit ihrer erkrankten Bezugsperson medizinisch nicht kompatibel ist. In solchen Fällen werden mehrere inkompatible Spender-Empfänger-Paare so miteinander kombiniert, dass eine anonyme, gegenseitige Kompatibilität zwischen den Paaren entsteht.

Diese Form der Organspende bietet mehrere Vorteile: Sie verkürzt die Wartezeit auf ein Organ, entlastet die Wartelisten und verbessert die Überlebenschancen der Patientinnen und Patienten, da die Transplantationen mit Organen lebender Spenderinnen und Spender erfolgen.

Dialyse: Neuer, schonender Gefäßzugang ohne Operation für die Dialyse

Bei chronische Niereninsuffizienz ist Dialyse lebensnotwendig. Dafür braucht es einen stabilen Gefäßzugang, meist einen operativ angelegten Shunt. Eine neue Alternative ist die minimal-invasive, endovaskuläre arteriovenöse Fistel, ein "nicht chirurgischer Shunt", durchgeführt von interventionellen Radiologinnen und Radiologen. Sie kann den Alltag der Betroffenen erleichtern.
