Mary Alacoque Waters
is a contemporary Irish painter who was born in London in 1957. She currently lives and works in Utrecht and Galway. In 1981, she graduated from the National College of Art and Design in Limerick. She is known for her portraits inspired by famous masters in Western Europe.
Waters is particularly influenced by the realistic and naturalistic portraits of Dutch artists of the Golden Age. Her monochrome or colorful figures usually set against a strong or geometric background. She has exhibited at numerous art fairs and galleries in the Netherlands and abroad, including Galerie Vous Etes Ici, Amsterdam (2014), Art Rotterdam, Galerie Vous Etes Ici (2014), Art Miami, Galerie Piece Unique, Paris (2010, 2011), 2012, 2013), Art Dubai, Galerie Piece Unique, Paris (2012), Art Brussels, Galerie Transit Mechelen Be (2006), Art Rotterdam, Galerie Arti Capelli (2005), Singer Museum Laren, Solo (1997).
