As we bring a remarkable year for viennacontemporary to a close, we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped shape the 2025 edition.

Under the artistic leadership of the fair became a vibrant meeting point for contemporary culture, marked by strong public engagement, meaningful collaborations, and powerful artistic voices that resonated far beyond Vienna.

With a renewed focus on curated sections – STATEMENT, ZONE1, CONTEXT, and the debut of VC VAULT, dedicated to risk-taking emerging practices – viennacontemporary 2025 reaffirmed its role as both a dynamic marketplace and a platform for discovery and critical exchange.

We are deeply grateful to our partners, prize supporters, institutions, and collaborators across Vienna who helped turn the city into a vibrant stage for contemporary art.

As we reflect on this edition, we are confident that the foundations laid this year will support future growth, new perspectives, and continued artistic dialogue.

Wishing you a warm, peaceful, and inspiring holiday season.
The viennacontemporary Team ✨

Spotlight of the Week: FRIEDEN TUN. — On Justice, Democracy & Gender

November 30, 2025 – March 28, 2027

FRIEDEN TUN. challenges us to rethink peace not as a final state, but as an ongoing social and political process — one that is personal, collective, and deeply shaped by questions of justice, democracy, and gender. The exhibition invites audiences to engage with peace through artistic, critical, and multi-voiced perspectives, exploring its meanings in everyday life, history, and society. Women are placed at the centre, not only as subjects of war but as active agents in peace-making, resistance, and rebuilding.

Presented by Frauenmuseum Hittisau — the first and only women’s museum in Austria, and the only one of its kind in a rural region — the exhibition brings together artistic works, historical narratives, and lived stories that invite reflection, emotion, and action.

Spotlight of the Week: Bucolica by Anna Hulačová

November 14, 2025 – March 1, 2026

In “Bucolica,” Czech artist .hulacova (*1984, Sušice) creates a techno-futuristic world infused with ancient storytelling, mythological symbolism, and reflections on agriculture and ecology.

Her hybrid sculptures move between figuration and abstraction. Combining concrete, ceramics, wood, and living beeswax structures cultivated by her own hive, Hulačová merges industrial aesthetics with natural materials, revealing tensions between idealization and industrialization, nature and civilization, community and individuality.

In the scenic venue of , Hulačová weaves together ancient legends, socialist-realist echoes, and futuristic imagery. The result is an expansive, atmospheric tableau: a sculptural reflection on agriculture, labor, technology, mythology, and the shifting relationship between humans, machines, and the natural world.

Many thanks to for showing us around!

Spotlight of the Week: calorie, by

7 November 25 - 22 February 26

In her exhibition “calorie,” Vienna-born artist Judith Fegerl (*1977) explores the complex notion of warmth — merging technology, materiality, and feminist discourse. Warmth, understood as a process of exchange and movement, permeates private, social, and political spheres, raising the question: What is the right temperature for living bodies and technological systems?

Taking its title from the historical unit of energy, calorie becomes a lens through which Fegerl examines measurement, power, and control — especially where the human body is concerned.

From global warming to technological energy flows to the heat of social coexistence, the creative and destructive potential of warmth is central to the exhibition. Heat remains invisible, perceptible only physically — yet it has always shaped Fegerl’s artistic practice.

At OK Linz, works from different creative periods unfold in new spatial and conceptual constellations, while new pieces developed specifically for the show make thermal processes tangible. Even the museum’s architecture becomes an active participant in her investigation of heat and its transformative force.

Fun fact: presented a solo booth with Judith Fegerl at 2025, highlighting her significance within the contemporary Austrian art scene.
