A table lamp was developed for Pulpstack, a Vienna-based start-up, to demonstrate the potential of an innovative cellulose-based 3D printing process. Both the material and the printing technology were developed in-house by Pulpstack.
The design focused on making use of the material’s unique properties to create a functional lamp with as few components and as little material as possible.
The result is a minimal construction consisting of a single 3D-printed cellulose element that combines the lampshade and its suspension. Stainless steel wires provide structural support and are held in place by the material’s inherent tension. At the same time, this connection compensates for manufacturing tolerances in the 3D printing process.
The result is a resource-efficient lamp that is easy to assemble and demonstrates how material properties, construction and design can work together to create innovative product solutions.
The project was co-funded by OekoBusiness Wien.
