The first-year students of the Cultural Heritage Studies Program organized a collage exhibition last Friday to close the Speak Out Through Arts project.
The initiative, based on the idea of the value of art, consisted of two art workshops delivered to students of Mittelschule Absberggasse. The first workshop, led by Vienna-based artist AYGYUL, involved the creation of a musical pieced composed by traditional sounds from different cultural backgrounds.
For second workshop, CEU students guided Mittelschule students create collages incorporating drawings, pictures and images that represented their own heritage.
Through Speak Out Through Arts, students got to explore their own heritage, as well as that of their colleagues, and portray it in unique and creative ways.

As part of our efforts to create engagement between local communities and their heritage, we have created the Speak Out Through Arts project. The first-year students of CEU's Cultural Heritage Studies Program are teaming up with two Vienna-based artists, AYGYUL and Pati Avish, to deliver workshops for students at Mittelschule Absberggasse, inviting them to look into their family's heritage.
Through sound-piece composition and collage-making, the students will explore their own heritage, as well as their peers'.
The first workshop will take place on Monday, March 14th, and the second workshop the following Monday. After that, we will share the final pieces made by the students with AYGYUL and Pati's guidance.

The Cultural Heritage Studies students at Central European University aim to turn the CEU Auditorium into a space for CEU’s members of underrepresented, misrepresented and not-represented communities to depict their community using vaious forms and presentations. It is planned to organize a one-week event at the end of the Winter Term. To answer the questions will take you up to 5 minutes.
