Luka Beradze, the creative genius responsible for bringing "Smiling Georgia" to life, will be joining us for this special event.

What are the costs of the half-truths that politicians tell? In 2012, the Georgian president wanted to make the nation smile. In the race for reelection, the incumbent's party was promising subsidized dental care to the country’s least well off. Across the land, state medical practitioners began removing rotten teeth with the promise of replacements in the months that followed — then the president lost.
Through interviews with those worst affected by that campaign, Smiling Georgia tells a story about the whims of political power and the defiance of those who usually hold the least of it — a film short on teeth, yes, but far from toothless.

Wir freuen uns darauf, den neuen Dokumentarfilm "Smiling Georgia" erst Mal in Österreich zeigen zu können. Der Film wurde in zahlreichen Festivals Weltweit gezeigt und wurde von Kritikern unter anderem Holywood Reporter besonders empfohlen.
Der Regisseuer Luka Beradze wird persönlich bei der Filmvorführung anwesend sein und anschliesßend ein Gespräch mit dem Publikum haben.
Nach der Veranstaltung es ist möglich mit dem Regisseur im Lounge Setting kennenzulernen und auszutauschen.

Wie hoch sind die Kosten für die Halbwahrheiten, die Politiker erzählen? Im Jahr 2012 wollte der georgische Präsident die Nation zum Lächeln bringen. Im Rennen um die Wiederwahl versprach die Partei des Amtsinhabers eine subventionierte zahnärztliche Versorgung für die Ärmsten des Landes. Im ganzen Land begannen staatliche Ärzte in den folgenden Monaten damit, verfaulte Zähne zu entfernen, mit dem Versprechen, sie zu ersetzen - dann verlor der Präsident.
Anhand von Interviews mit denjenigen, die von dieser Kampagne am stärksten betroffen waren, erzählt Smiling Georgia eine Geschichte über die Launen der politischen Macht und den Trotz derjenigen, die normalerweise am wenigsten davon haben - ein Film mit wenig Zähnen, ja, aber keineswegs zahnlos.

The Sacred Mountain is a 1973 Mexican-American surreal fantasy film directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky, who also participated as an actor, composer, set designer and costume designer on the film. The film was produced by Beatles manager Allen Klein of ABKCO Music and Records, after Jodorowsky scored an underground phenomenon with El Topo and the acclaim of both John Lennon and George Harrison (Lennon and Yoko Ono put up production money)

"The Holy Mountain" challenges societal norms and explores themes of spirituality, enlightenment, and the human condition. Jodorowsky's visual poetry weaves a tapestry of symbolism, allegory, and provocative imagery, inviting viewers to question their perception of reality and confront the depths of their own existence.

Emanuel Heim eröffnet am 30. März seine Ausstellung Symbiosen im Wohlmut. Zu sehen sind neue Arbeiten aus dem Atelier Berlin sowie die Werke, die im März 2023 während des Gastaufenthalts im Rahmen des Wohlmut AIR-Programmes in Wien entstanden sind.
Nach der ersten Einzelausstellung in der Galerie am Theater in Rüsselsheim und Gruppenausstellungen im Aargauer Kunsthaus und im Kunstmuseum Chur, ist Symbiosen Heims erste Ausstellung in Österreich.

«Kennzeichnend für Heim sind seine prägnant mutige Farbigkeit und die souveräne gestische Handschrift, mit der er an der schwimmenden Grenze zwischen expressiv figuralen bzw. naturalen Darstellungen und der Entgleisung von Gegenständlichkeit hin zu abstrakt räumlichen Kontexten, Flächen und Formen operiert. (...) Motivisch steht für Heim der Mensch im Mittelpunkt, wie er in seiner Suche nach sich selbst auch um Gemeinschaft ringt und wie er sich in einer Welt verortet, die mit der Natur ebenso verbunden ist wie mit architektonischen Szenerien oder geometrischen Formen und Artefakten.»

Anna Vasof presents her collection of toys that deal with social paradoxes and let us see a familiar world from a different perspective.
Anna Vasof (1985 in Prag); Architektin, Medien- und zeitbasierte Künstlerin. 2010 Diplom der Architektur auf der Universität Thessaly; 2014 Diplom der medienübergreifenden Kunst auf der Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien bei Prof. Kowanz. 2020 Dissertation auf der Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien in künstlerischer Forschung mit dem Titel "Non Stop Stop Motion". Seit 2019 Lehrtätigkeit in der Klasse Social Design auf der Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien; Vortrags- & Workshoptätigkeit in zahlreichen Universitäten im In- und Ausland. Rege internationale Ausstellungs- und Festivaltätigkeit seit 2004. Zahlreiche renommierte Preise und Auszeichnungen; zahlreiche Werke in öffentlichen und privaten Sammlungen. Der kasachische Punk-Poet, Frontman der Band Adaptatsiya (Адаптация) wird anlässlich des Releases seines im Dagyeli Verlag zweisprachig erschienenen Gedichtbands Wiederkunft der Wunderkinder für einen Meet & Greet am 16. März und einen Performance-Abend am 17. März nach Wien kommen.

Остановите войну! Widersteht dem Krieg! Ein musikalisch-poetischer Abend mit Liedern und Gedichten des kasachischen Sängers und Dichters Yermen Anti in russischer und deutscher Sprache. Vor über dreißig Jahren wurde in Aqtöbe die Punkband »Adaptatsiya« gegründet, die sich bald zu einer der populärsten Stimmen des russischsprachigen Undergrounds entwickelte. Mit ebenso scharfzüngigen wie scharfsichtigen Texten gegen Militarismus, Patriotismus, Diktatorenverherrlichung und Sklavengeist.
Nach etlichen Tourneen durch Westeuropa und das Baltikum ist Yermen Anti erstmalig in Wien mit einem Soloprogramm zu erleben.

Meet & Greet in der Galerie Wohlmut. Mit dem kasachischen Sänger und Dichter Yermen Anti. Es wird Gelegenheit geben, mit dem Autor und seinem Übersetzer und Verleger ins Gespräch zu kommen. Über Krieg und Frieden, Punk und Poetry, widerständige Kunst in der »gelenkten Demokratie«.

Seit ihrer Gründung 1992 im kasachischen Aqtöbe/Aktjubinsk hat sich die Punkband »Adaptatsiya« zu einer der namhaftesten Stimmen des russischsprachigen Undergrounds entwickelt.
