Two person photo exhibition by artists Simone Carneiro and Helena Eribenne, curated by Synne Genzmer. Taking place at the Votiv Kirche in Vienna, as part of the photography festival Foto Wien in March 2022. With the support of the First District, Vienna.

We are very excited to announce the dates and location of our exhibition!
Die Ausstellung More Than Meets The Eye zeigt Fotografien der Künstlerinnen Simone Carneiro und Helena Eribenne, die mit erzählerischen Mitteln auf eine mögliche Zukunft verweisen, die das Verhältnis von Natur, Technologie, Glaube und Zeitlosigkeit neu fasst. Carneiros Aufnahmen von transparenten 3D-Prints in natürlicher Umgebung und Eribennes Performance einer Engelsfigur im Wald initiieren einen dialektischen Diskurs, deren Denkrichtungen sich zwischen afro-futuristischen und transhumanistischen Aspekten bewegen und darüber hinaus zeitgenössische Zukunftsvisionen in einen sakralen Kontext stellen, der ungewohnte Bezüge zu den mystischen Aspekten ikonologischer Traditionen zulässt. Diese Vieldeutigkeit verbindet künstlerische Fotografie, Science-Fiction und Spiritualität und integriert Fragen, die in gängigen Diskursen ausgeklammert werden.

We will present our work in the Votiv Kirche Vienna. The Votivkirche is a neo-Gothic style church located on the Ringstraße in Vienna. Following the attempted assassination of Emperor Franz Joseph in 1853, the Emperor's brother Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian inaugurated a campaign to create a church to thank God for saving the Emperor's life.
