MEDITATE WITH THE ROBOTS 🤖☀️

This Friday, you are invited to become part of Speculative Futures: Robotic Meditation by Joaquin Fargas.

For the opening performance, the audience will join the robots in a collective meditation—sharing a moment of stillness between humans and machines, bodies and technology, ritual and code.

Meet the Artist:

Artist-engineer // Engineer-artist. Joaquín Fargas integrates the artistic, scientific and technological fields in his work.

Through science, he communicates the concepts and theories playfully and poetically. Through art, he teaches how to grasp the properties of nature and become aware of its care.

Since the beginning of the 2000s, he has been incorporating digital and communication technologies as well as robotics into his artistic practice. Crypto Art, Quantum computing, and Artificial intelligence are integrated into his works.

His production is centered on possible or utopian proposals related to life, its preservation, and the interrelationship between living beings and the future. In his work, he integrates biological materials and technological media aimed at breaking down barriers and generating possible dialogues and hybrid ecologies.

He was Executive Director of the UNESCO Network for the Popularization of Science and Technology for Latin America and the Caribbean. He is currently Director of the Center for Exploratory Art, Science and Technology in San Isidro, Argentina and Director of the Latin American Bioart Laboratory at the Inter-American Open University-UAI.

The works have been exhibited in museums, galleries, and biennials. Activities include site-specific installations, performances, workshops, and academic conferences on all continents, including the Antarctic.

Speculative Futures: Robotic Meditation imagines a distant future in which machines become the guardians of a human legacy.

Solar-powered robots awaken with the rising Sun, continuing a ritual long after their creators have disappeared.

Through robotics, sound and speculative storytelling, Joaquin Fargas invites us to reflect on ecological crisis, artificial intelligence and the future of our species.

SPECULATIVE FUTURES: ROBOTIC MEDITATION

We are pleased to announce Speculative Futures: Robotic Meditation, a solo exhibition by Argentine-Spanish artist Joaquin Fargas, opening at Fabrikraum Kunstverein Vienna on 28 August 2026.

Combining robotics, sound and speculative storytelling, the installation imagines a distant future in which humanity has entrusted its survival to machines. Millions of years later, solar-powered robots continue a mysterious ritual, bowing to the Sun as if preserving a forgotten memory. Through this poetic scenario, the work invites us to reflect on artificial intelligence, ecological crisis, and possible futures.

Join us for the opening on Friday, 28 August at 19:00, featuring a participatory Robotic Meditation performance in which visitors are invited to meditate alongside the robots.

Meet the artist: Ilaria Carli Pàris

Ilaria Carli Pàris (*1986 in Asiago, IT) lives and works in Vienna. Her artistic research explores the beauty of movement, understood as a primary condition of existence that resides in everything and as an inner flow, giving us vital impetus.

In these works, created by fixing paper stretched directly onto a frame, movement undergoes a process of visual and structural freezing. The presence of the human figure in some series takes on a meaning of warmth: it is a portal for reconnecting the self to its physical dwelling.

Her work was featured in numerous exhibitions including Cermodern, Ankara (TR), Vienna Art Week, West Space (AT), Instituto Italiano di Cultura, Vienna (AT), Atelier Grundsteingasse, Vienna (AT), Sala DEPOSITO 51, Vicenza (IT), CSC, San Vito Di Leguzzano (IT), g7, Vienna (AT), SocialContainer, Camporovere (IT), and ATELIER B, Accademia di Belle Arti, Venice (IT).
