Galerie Krinzinger - Contemporary Art Gallery Galerie Krinzinger (Instagram: ) was founded in 1971 by art-historian Dr. Ursula Krinzinger.

Since then, she has organized at least 500 exhibitions of national and international artists, mounting solo, group and thematic shows. The main interest and source of the gallery program stems, on the one hand, from international performance and body related art (Marina Abramovic since 1975, Chris Burden since 1992), on the other hand, from Viennese actionism (Rudolf Schwarzkogler, Günter Brus, Hermann Nitsch, Otto Muehl since 1975). Additionally, the gallery has been working with national and international artists such as Jonathan Meese, Gavin Turk, Eva Schlegel, Mark Wallinger, Thomas Zipp and others for over forty-five years. The latest additions to the gallery program result from Ursula Krinzinger’s research in Asia and the Middle East (Kader Attia, Waqas Khan, Maha Malluh, Sudarshan Shetty, Zhang Ding). This thematic focus has been consequently present since 12 years. Besides the gallery program, Ursula Krinzinger organizes and curates exhibitions in various spaces outside the gallery, including the gallery's second space: Krinzinger Schottenfeld, which was founded in 2002 as Krinzinger Projekte. Internationally orientated, group and topic exhibitions define the program, which quickly earned an international reputation. Housed in a separate building, Krinzinger Schottenfeld joins Galerie Krinzinger in inviting young national and international artists to take part in the gallery’s artist-in-residence program, which currently includes destinations in Austria, Croatia, Hungary and Sri Lanka. For more than forty-five years, Galerie Krinzinger has regularly participated in the world's most important art fairs, among them: Art Basel, Arco Madrid, The Armory Show New York, Art Dubai, FIAC, Frieze London, Art Basel Hong Kong, Art Düsseldorf, Art Basel Miami.

The presentation will be held in English, without interpretation.

In the presence of the jury, Dr. Zsolt Sári, State Secretary for Public Collections and Heritage Protection, Ministry for Community Relations and Culture, will present the Capa Grand Prize Hungary. The winner of the Grand Prize will receive a cash prize of 2.5 million forints from the founding Capa Center. In addition, the Capa Center will provide 2,000 euros to support an exhibition of the Grand Prize-winning work at the Krinzinger Schottenfeld Gallery in Vienna, which – thanks to a generous offer from the gallery – will also include a one-month residency in Vienna.

Admission to the event is free.

A loss of orientation in the face of far-reaching global crises is one of the defining experiences of our time. The exhibition Falling up takes up this feeling and contrasts it with a different perspective. The paradoxical title – ‘falling upwards’ – challenges the laws of gravity and opens up the possibility of understanding this loss of orientation not solely as a threat, but also as a shift in perspective.

For its second international edition in Paris, PARALLEL once again brings art into unexpected spaces, taking over the restaurant Derriere, the bar Andy Wahloo and two floors of a 16th-century building in the heart of the Marais.

During a busy fair week, PARALLEL Paris offers a moment to slow down and explore the intersection of art and social life. Come by for dinner or just for a drink.

At Derriere, art is on the menu too, with works exploring food on display throughout the restaurant. While Pop Art sets the tone at Andy Wahloo, selected works from participating galleries and artists extend across both spaces and onto the first floor. The second floor features a showroom with selected galleries and projects from Vienna and Paris.

The exhibition ‚Liminal Spaces‘ offers a glimpse into the multimedia work of artist Bernd Oppl, which fundamentally explores the uncertainty of perception.

Oppl examines interstitial spaces, transitions, and gray areas, working with hybrid forms and materials that transform from one state to another, overgrow spaces, or are by their very nature difficult to control—such as liquids or wind. He introduces these elements into sterile spaces, where they enter into a choreographed interplay. Through his works, in which realities blend together, Oppl subtly succeeds in evoking existential feelings. The exhibition features lightbox photographs, dioramas, a multichannel video installation—whose sound employs repetitive patterns to intensify the sense of liminality—and a spatial object.

Wishing Walter Pichler a Happy Birthday

Today, October 1, Walter Pichler would have turned 90. On his birthday, we would therefore like to reflect on his extraordinary body of work and also remember him as a person.

Walter Pichler was born on October 1, 1936, in Deutschnofen, South Tyrol. He was a sculptor, architect, and draftsman and is considered one of the outstanding Austrian artists of the postwar period. His work moves in a unique way between sculpture, architecture, drawing, and space. Again and again, Pichler placed the relationship between people, the body, objects, and the environment at the center of his work, using it as a foundation to develop distinctive, visionary pictorial and spatial worlds.

Today, on his birthday, we think of Walter Pichler with great appreciation and fond memories, and—along with our thanks for the time we shared—we wish him a very happy birthday.
