The Golden Pixel Cooperative (GPC) is an association for moving images, arts and media, active within both exhibition and cinema contexts. It was founded from the need to act collectively in a predominantly individual cultural landscape. With a critical, feminist and antidiscriminatory approach, we work on the production, distribution, and presentation of artworks and discourses. We foster empower

ment and solidarity by enabling exchange and support between artists, cultural workers, educators and thinkers. Collectively, we work on projects that have various formats such as screenings, exhibitions, symposia and publications. Our aim is to engage with a wide range of audiences, and to collaborate with a variety of cultural organizations and initiatives. We seek to share resources and infrastructures, strive for inclusive formats of participation, and build upon shared knowledge. We strongly believe in the political potential of kinship, one that is driven by openness, equality and continuous learning processes.

The screening series "Framing Collective Action" presents artistic and documentary films created within collective structures. By linking historical and contemporary examples, the series explores the potentials of collective filmmaking through diverse aesthetic approaches. Each film program focuses on a specific spatial context (House, Street, Land) and examines the political and social impact of collective filmmaking both in front of and behind the camera, within and beyond the frame.

"House", the first iteration of this series, brings together three short films which frame collaboration and action within a domestic building—simultaneously opening up and critically interrogating the notion of home. Through this selection of audiovisual works, the house reveals itself as an impermanent shelter, a site with questionable borders, and a space that invisibilizes the working conditions of those that must maintain it. Yet, as these films from India, Ukraine, and Brazil demonstrate, this very same house can serve as a place from which collective action might emerge.

Six video works engage with the ecological, infrastructural and material conditions of digital image production. Beginning with images of nature, the programme explores the hidden landscapes of digitisation—from data centres and raw materials to disused railway tracks.
Featuring works by Enar de Dios Rodríguez, Nathalie Koger, Simona Obholzer, Marlies Pöschl, Katharina Swoboda and Lisa Truttmann, it brings together perspectives ranging from plant-based data storage to animal habitats, revealing a more-than-human world in which technology, environment and bodies are inextricably intertwined.

12 Years of GPC – Revisited

After twelve years of continuous work with and about moving images, the cooperative looks back: from the roughly one hundred projects carried out to date, the cooperative has selected ten moving-image projects to be screened again. The thematic focus of the ten projects and their films remains the same, but the years have passed and the venue for the screenings has now shifted entirely to the GPC Online Screen. How has our perspective on the respective programme and on each work changed? What were the programmes about and what were the pressing issues at the time of their presentation? Some of the screenings were developed in the years before the pandemic, before the post-truth era, and before the now ubiquitous use of artificial intelligence.

With this repeated screening of the programmes, the cooperative also takes a stand against the imperative of constant innovation: rather than giving in to the pressure to produce something new incessantly, this rescreening extends an invitation to understand images not as finished products of their time, but as images whose meaning is situated in relation to present-day and media conditions.
