Artist consultations are back at Kunsthalle Wien and this time, we have a special guest: 🤍 Join us on September 2nd, at 4 PM to get guidance, tips, and connections for navigating the art scene in Vienna.

Selina Shirin Stritzel is a theatre maker, critical cultural mediator & transmedia artist. She completed a Master’s degree in Critical Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts. At Ballhaus Naunynstraße in Berlin, she worked as an dramaturg, co-director and head of the “akademie der autodidakten”. In Vienna, she worked with Gin Müller for several theatre projects at brut Wien. Recently as a dramaturg with Bérénice Hebenstreit on at the Hamakom Theater, and Laia Fabre at Wuk Performing Arts. As a cultural mediator and curator, she has worked as project manager for “Akademie geht in die Schule” at the Academy of Fine Arts, for KÖR NÖ’s “INVENTOUR” and for the “Tangente – Festival für Gegenwartskultur” St. Pölten. She is a board member of “kuntsverein” and is head dramaturg as part of the new artistic direction of Theater der Jugend 2026/2027.

The venue is wheelchair accessible with a barrier-free bathroom incl. changing table. Parents are welcome - we’ll have a soft play area (0–6 years) and a nursing chair.

We’re excited to launch a new series of QMA Artist Portraits! ✨

Over the next few months, you’ll have the chance to take a closer look at the practices of several artists from the QMA Artist Collective 2026.

The third QMA Artist Portrait features Anzhelika Palyvoda (b. 2000, Kyiv, Ukraine), who currently lives and works in Vienna. Since 2022, a student at die Angewandte Vienna, in the painting department. She works with painting, installation, and sound. Co-founder and curator of an artist-run space „arka arka“ (Vienna).

In her practice, she explores forms of resistance to forgetting and violence by translating personal and collective memory into physical space. Using materials such as charcoal, concrete, metal, and sound, she creates installations that perceive memory as fragile and mutable. These works often take the form of gardens (of resistance). Her works function as imitations of reality - of what has passed or what may have never existed - and carry a nostalgic, sentimental dimension.

The videos are created by filmmaker Miloš Vučićević , an alumnus of the QMA Artist Collective 2020, who has created video portraits of many of our artists over the past few years.

Artist Consultations are back at Kunsthalle Wien 🩷 Join us on September 2nd at 4PM to get guidance, tips, and connections for navigating the art scene in Vienna.

This month’s special guest is . We will properly introduce Marissa soon!

Justina Špeirokaitė is a mother, curator and cultural organiser of Lithuanian background, based in Vienna. With a background in social work and cultural studies, she focuses on intercultural artistic collaboration and researches how transgenerational stories of secondary memory shape women’s everyday lives. In 2014, she co-founded the cultural platform Improper Walls. Since 2019, she has supported newly arrived artists in Vienna through the QMA initiative, working to strengthen networks, visibility and opportunities for artists building new lives in the city.

Smaranda Krings is a cultural manager and curator focusing on sustainable community building and transparent financial management. Since 2019, she has been active at QMA, supporting artists new to Vienna. She previously managed the finances of the Althangrund Cultural Center and served as deputy director of the WIENWOCHE festival in 2025. In 2020, she co-founded the music residency QMA On Stage with Mwita Mataro. She is also the manager of musician Chovo, whose work is released through Sony Music/Jive Germany.

Introducing the QMA Artist Collective of 2026! 🤝

ANTON LAPOV (Anton Lapov)

Anton Lapov is a media artist, musician, curator, and researcher from Donbas, Ukraine, now based in Vienna. Emerging from self-organised electronic music and media art scenes in Eastern Ukraine, he works across sound, installation, performance, and archival practice. His projects bring together club culture, computational systems, movement-sensitive environments, and fragmented archives shaped by war and displacement. His work has been presented at Ars Electronica, National Sawdust, Delfina Foundation, WRO Media Art Biennale, and Parallel Vienna. He holds an MFA from Arizona State University and is currently developing his artistic research at Zurich University of the Arts.

Anton will have a concert as a part of Kultursommer Wien on the 7th of August, don’t miss it ✨

We’re excited to launch a new series of QMA Artist Portraits! ✨

The first QMA Artist Portrait features Human van der Merwe (). Human van der Merwe is a South African performance-maker and artistic researcher based in Vienna. Working across movement, text, visual composition, and scenographic practice, his work explores memory, identity, belonging, and the body as a living archive of place and experience. By collecting and reworking fragments encountered across different geographies, he creates experimental performances and visual-poetic works that remain open to the process that generated them.

The videos are created by filmmaker Miloš Vučićević , an alumnus of the QMA Artist Collective 2020, who has created video portraits of many of our artists over the past few years.

SVETA SHUVAEVA (Svetlana Shuvaeva)

Sveta Shuvaeva (b.1986, Russia) is an artist and textile designer based in Linz and Vienna. Her artistic practice spans a variety of media, including graphic and paint-based works on paper, mixed-media installations, shaft and jacquard weaving. She explores a range of themes, such as anarchy and control, irrational and tragicomic, and liminality of space.

She graduated from Samara University of Architecture (Russia) in 2010 and has been studying at the University of Art Linz (Austria) since 2022.

The QMA Artist Collective is one of our yearly programs running since 2019. It supports artists new to Vienna to develop their careers in this city. Selected artists will become part of an 8-month collective process, included in our freshly curated QMA Artist Database, invited to a Mini-Residency, and introduced to the city’s important art and culture actors - including artists, curators, and gallerists.

LUTZZ BOG-LÁRK (lutzz bog.)

lutzz&bog.’s practice is in a long-standing engagement with the ecological, embodied crip*queerness, collectivity, connectivity, and the corporeality of sound.

lutzz feels at home in collaborative speculative creation processes and has worked on several art research projects and spaces, engaging in alternative working and learning methods in collaborative situations, always experimenting with artistic worldmaking, rooted in post-extractivist fantasies.
