Well well well... My WIP did get finished, it has something wonderful about it... But its not my favorite piece ever. To say it nicely 😅
I compiled a small collage of the finished WIPs. If I forgot you - sorry!!! Admittedly this first month didn't go as smoothly as I planned 😅 please remember to always use the hashtag so I can find your posts!

Day 2 of - my work 🤗
I started this embroidery journey about a year ago. I had embroidered before, but never for a longer time. I am not the "follow pattern" type, so right from the start I just tried different things, incorporating acrylics, embroidery on canvas... The hobbit door is a bit of a recurring theme 😅 i love to try and experiment with new ideas. The Auroras will likely always be some of my favorites to do!
In one sentence: painting with thread to show the beauty of light 😊🤗

It's february, and that means it's time to start the next month of our WIP project!
For those of you who are new to our little challenge - this year we want to finish all those abandoned WIPs!
To play along you just need to follow me and our hashtag and the months co-host. At the beginning of the month you will find a post like this one to kick the month off, and we would like you to post your WIP you will be working on this month. At the end of the month, or whenever you finish during, you post a before and after picture of it for everyone to see. Cheering each other on is highly wanted and appreciated! Introduction tiiiime!

I love this idea for a challenge, I hope I can keep up 😅 is hosting !

So - hello, this is me! 😅

I am 37 years old, I live in Austria with my husband and my 16 months old little hobbit and our furry companion. My whole life, I have loved crafting and trying out new things. After becoming a Mama I was a little bit stuck, and didn't know what to do. Having a Baby was suchst change in my life, I need to adapt to this new situation. I discovered embroidery, because it gave me the possibility to be creative, but also put it down quickly without being afraid of messing it up or forgetting what I was doing if the little one needed me.
I love to experiment, so my art is constantly changing!

I am a nerd, a programmer, a teacher, a mom, an artist, a designer, and so much more 😅

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being here with my on this journey!

It's ! 🤩 How about a
progress post?
So guys... It seems that me, who started this whole wip challenge, really needed it herself 😂 I think what I want to add to the challenge, that I have not thought of until now, is some kind of takeaway, each month. This month's takeaway might very well be, that it's not a shame to put something away if it's just not speaking to you...
On the first slide you can see the wip that I chose for this challenge month, and it's progress. Mind you, most of the progress will be reverted, because I really cannot stand the rain like this 🙈😅
So I stepped away from it a few nights ago, and grabbed another whip from my pile. That second slide one is making my heart sing, and it's really fun to work on.
And the third slide? Well, I might have added something new to my pile.. it's a new concept, a new idea, and I only started with the watercolor part, literally can't wait to start embroidering!!

New Challenge Alert! 🤩

Some of you may already have seen it in my stories - I am starting a new thing!
Personally, I have a huge drawer full of WIPs. I think most of us do. And some of those WIPs I really want to finish but can't just get me to do them over everything else I want to do... So, to stay accountable, have fun and maybe get to know more people, let's tackle those WIPs together!
Each month I'll post in the beginning to start the challenge. You can pick the template I post, or create something yourself - showing a "before" picture of your chosen WIP. Tell us a bit about it, use the hashtag so everyone can see. throughout the month I hope to get to see some progress shots, and at the end of each month we will get to see wonderful before - after pics 🤩

I am already looking for co-hosts to join me, each month there will be someone else to cheer you on, share about there progress and maybe even sponsor a small price!
At the end of every month, I want to give out a small price to one "winner" - and at the end of the year we will have a big tombola kind of thing. I am still thinking about that part ☺️☺️

So to start things of... For January, I am your only host. There will be a digital price this month for one winner, a digital item from my shop that they choose (i have some things planned for this month... ☺️)

On the second slide you see my chosen WIP... I painted that scene quite a while ago with guache colors, planning to add some lamp posts and maybe more details. I keep in picking it up, just to work on something else instead 🙈

It's been a while since I learned how to paint auroras, and then over time I developed my mixed media pieces, incorporating paintings of these fascinating natural wonders with embroidered foregrounds.
I LOVE creating them, and that's why I want to share my love for this art with you!
