APPLY NOW: OPEN CALL 2026
ROTLICHT FESTIVAL FOR ANALOG PHOTOGRAPHY

⚡️Anthropocene: Hybrid Realities⚡️

The Anthropocene - often described as the age of humankind - names an epoch in which human activity decisively shapes the Earth’s ecological and geological systems. Yet this narrative of dominance may itself be a construct. Ideas of control, progress, and technological mastery stand in tension with a world increasingly defined by instability, complexity, and fragility.

We welcome submissions that engage with these tensions and expand the discourse through experimental, critical, and process-oriented approaches in analog photography.

🕒Submission deadline: June 30, 2026
🏆Announcement of winners: July 20, 2026
🤍Exhibition: November 26 - December 6, 2026, Atelierhaus of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna
📷Format: Single series or project (max. 15 images)
🎞️Medium: Analog / hybrid processes (no exclusively digital photography)
✉️Submission: Online via the form at www.rotlicht-festival.at (link in bio!)
💎Open call fee: €20

For further information we provide a Q&A section on our website as well.

Rotlicht Festival Selection Artist 2025:
OLEKSANDR GLYADYELOV

Ukrainian photographer Oleksandr Glyadyelov, whose exhibition is on display at the Atelierhaus, travelled to Vienna for the opening of the festival and for several events. Here are some impressions from the guided tour with Glyadyelov, where he gave a tour of his own exhibition and talked about his work, as well as from the book signing. On Sunday, we also hosted a screening of a documentary about him by Ksenia Kravtsova. We would like to thank Oleksandr Glyadyelov for his impactful and important work and for taking the time to be at the festival, as well as all the visitors to the events!

⚡️Event tip: On Saturday, November 29, there will be a guided tour through the exhibition with curator Michael Laubsch. Time: 5-6 p.m.
