Wavering Worlds #24
Kristina Warren, Sara Zlanabitnic

Tuesday, June 2nd
Open doors: 7 pm
Start: 7:30 pm

Kristina Warren (US) is a composer, improviser, media artist based in Providence in the northeastern US. In order to highlight the ebbs and flows of individual and collective listening, Warren gives frequent audiovisual performances (ranging from synth voyages and digital soundscapes to concertina meditations and beyond) along with installations, workshops, lectures, and more. For Wavering Worlds, Kristina will perform selections from recent audiovisual concertina album Tusk (2026, Gold Bolus Recordings). This immersive work demonstrates the fierce range and beguiling beauty of the concertina, a small squeezebox instrument. Traversing fluidly from white-noise bellows sounds to resonance and difference tones, Tusk keens across memory and interior landscape to activate an otherworldly yet instinctive resonance. https://kmwarren.org/

Sara Zlanabitnig is an Austrian flutist, improviser and sound artist based in Vienna. Her artistic focus lies on free improvisation and experimental music, combining the acoustic flute with electronics, effects units, and extended playing techniques. In her work, she explores fragile sonic states, overtones, microtonality, and the physical presence of breath and resonance. In addition to her international concert activities, Zlanabitnig is actively involved in cultural policy. She is a co-founder of the Fraufeld* platform for networking female musicians in the field of improvised music, a co-organizer of the collectively curated festival Jahresendzeitschokoladenhohlkörper, and a member of the direction at Vienna’s echoraum. Her work operates at the intersection of improvisation, sound research and collective practice. https://sarazlanabitnig.com/projects

The series „Wavering Worlds“ provides a platform for local and international artists and musicians who oscillate between musical and artistic genres.

Ein Hoch auf den Feierabend. Hobby machen, Hobby rauchen. Opportunities for social connection and skill development. Leidenschaft trifft Besessenheit.

In her work, Lisa Großkopf takes aim at the striving for perfection. She highlights a troubling worldview: one that ascribes responsibility for life’s happiness primarily to the individual, while largely ignoring essential variables such as structural inequalities and social disadvantages. Großkopf confronts the neoliberal ideal—where health, beauty, and contentment are viewed as things to be maximized solely through diligence and discipline—with the reality of hyper-capitalist societies.

At the intersection of literature and visual arts, Sarah Rinderer focuses on dealing with language itself, its pauses, gaps and in-between-spaces. By making seemingly silent punctuation marks audible together with voice performers or by sending a message into the past through semaphore gestures, she explores the conditions that make communication possible – across spatial and temporal distances, different sign systems, codes and beyond words.

Don't miss our last concert of this year, back to the bb15 space

caput 1.5 is the fifth iteration of an ongoing performance series with Fabian Lanzmaier, Andreas Zißler And Klemens Kohlweis.

Coming from different backgrounds, their work operates at the intersection of sound, sculpture and media art, resulting in site specific performances. In their performance they set up spontaneous situations, unstable chaotic sound sculptures and constellations of self built instruments, objects and electronic instruments exploring audio phenomena such as resonance and feedback actively using the space as part of the performance/instrument.
