Far more than just a play on color and contrast, black and white conceal a cosmos of motifs and cultural traditions. In a cultural and social context defined by opposites, they symbolize beginning and end, light and darkness, good and evil, life and death. While black absorbs all light, white is the color of light and the sum of all colors.
