'The Girl With The Blue Dreadlocks' . . .

"Abstract Expressionism" -ish lol

A quick, spontaneous mark-making experiment, using acrylic paints and various old tools of mine - on a board...

(It's very basic/naive/childlike, but I've had quite a strong emotional connection to this image since I painted it a number of years ago.)

A dragon I drew for homework of some kind in secondary school.

(Black biro and blendable colouring pencils)

Sometime after the fact, it reminded me a bit of The Jabberwock...

'The Jabberwocky' ~ by Lewis Carroll

‘Twas brillig, and the slithy toves

Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;

All mimsy were the borogoves,

And the mome raths outgrabe.'

“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!

The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!

Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun

The frumious Bandersnatch!”

He took his vorpal sword in hand:

Long time the manxome foe he sought —

So rested he by the Tumtum tree,

And stood awhile in thought.

And as in uffish thought he stood,

The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,

Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,

And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through

The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!

He left it dead, and with its head

He went galumphing back.

“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?

Come to my arms, my beamish boy!

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”

He chortled in his joy.

‘Twas brillig, and the slithy toves

Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;

All mimsy were the borogoves,

And the mome raths outgrabe.'

*A doodle on a textured board...*

I see a singer, a diving bird, a dragon and maybe a few other things. Possibly a bit inspired by Wassily Kandinsky, who was one of many artists I studied a long time ago at college. It's also a bit graffiti/mural-like - I aspire to do much bigger works in time . . .

(Pencils, pens, felts, oil-pastels)
