Oh, alla prima painting technique – long time no see. I've missed you!

Painting this wasn't the plan for today. I actually wanted to finish a commission piece, but it's still too wet for the final layer. As usual, oil paint had other ideas.

I've been wanting to do a color study for a while, and I've also wanted to paint the same subject using two different techniques. So I ignored my other to-dos for a bit and did something purely for fun.

What do you think of this alla prima oil color study? Isn't it wonderfully shiny?

I was so into painting I hardly made process photos! But a few I have so: Let's paint together.

Have you ever wondered how a painting evolves?

Substractive painting techniques are one of my most favourite: You start with your darks and substract the highlights. Then you'll add a glaze layer followed by your finishing opaques.

12 Months Series

Jänner 2026 – ehrlich? Ganz schön voll.
Zwischen Auftragsarbeiten, Master-Studium, Klea 🐾 und Sozialleben habe ich versucht, alles unter einen Hut zu bringen.

Spoiler: Hat nur so mittelmäßig funktioniert.
Auch hier war ich weniger präsent, obwohl mir dieser Account unglaublich viel Freude macht.
Im Februar möchte ich wieder öfter teilen, was gerade entsteht ✨
