Woohoo!!! Our very own Sologaliua Ames paid a visit to the Amerika Samoa exhibit at the Field Museum in Chicago today!! Liua, faafetai telefor being one of the ambassadors of welcome into the exhibit!!
If you have not been to the Field Museum to see this exhibit, you have until 2028!! But don’t wait!!

Congratulations, Amerika Samoa! 🇦🇸

The National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, opened 'From These Lands: Sharing Our Natural & Cultural Heritage,' an exhibition featuring objects from every state and inhabited U.S. territory.

American Samoa is proudly represented through historical and contemporary works, including a siapo from the 1890s, Su'a Uilisone Fitiao's siapo mamanu, a siapo mask by Reggie Meredith Fitiao, an i'e from 1875, an illustration from the 1800s paired with a modern photograph by Puataunofo Tofaeono, a clip from "Daughter of Barkcloth" film by Gabby Faaiuaso, and many other pieces that showcase the richness of our culture and heritage.
What an honor to see our stories shared alongside those from across the nation. We have been wonderfully represented!

National Museum of Natural History Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC opened its doors today to FROM THESE LANDS: Sharing our Natural & Cultural Heritage featuring onjects from every state and inhabited territory Exhibit!
And for American Samoa, historical siapo from 1890 and Su’a Uilisone Fitiao’s siapo mamanu with a siapo mask made by Reggie Meredith Fitiao, an i’e from 1875, an illustration drawn in the 1800’s juxtaposed with a modern photograph taken by Puataunofo Tofaeono, a clip from Daughter of Barkcloth by Gabby Faaiuaso and so much more!!! Congratulations American Samoa! We have been well represented !
