Auto Body: Video + Performance Project, featuring only female artists, nominated by international fe

Auto Body debuted in December 2014 at Giant Motors, produced by Spinello Projects. The traveling exhibition features women artists working in video, performance and new media, nominated by a committee of international women curators. With each new city, a local curatorial committee selects works by local artists to be added to the platform — continually fostering an exchange of ideas and a transnational conversation on the political and economic inequalities of the art world and beyond.

The Best Art of 2014: AUTO BODY

Stellar year for museum and gallery shows. Topping 2014's feast of memorable exhibits were the Tracey Emin and Wangechi Mutu shows at MOCA and the Ai Weiwei and Beatriz Milhazes exhibits at PAMM. The Pulitzer photo show at the Frost Art Museum in the spring garnered plenty of attention, while the "Gold" exhibition at the Bass capped the Miami Beach museum's 50th-anniversary bash.
But it was "Auto Body," an exhibit staged by Spinello Projects in December during Basel, that left the most tongues wagging in 2014. The four-day video and performance project at the defunct Giant Motors Auto Body & Paint in South Beach featured works by 33 female artists.

The year began with a local artist smashing a vase at the newly opened Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) and...
