The Museum caries the name of one of the most influential Armenian artists of the 20th century - Haroutiun Galentz (1910-1967). “Galentz Museum” is the first private museum in Armenia to be designed, installed and founded by the family. The Museum was established due to the joint efforts of Haroutiun Galentz’s family – his wife, artist Armine Galentz (1920-2007), and his sons Saro and Armen Gal
entzs, whose private art collections set basis for the museum exhibitions. The Museum began in the place of the house-studio built by the two artists – Armine and Haroutiun Galentz in 1946, after they had permanently moved from Beirut to Soviet Armenia. The RA Ministry of Culture has a considerable investment in the development of “Galentz Museum”. Due to this cooperation, it has been possible to bring to life a number of important projects in Armenia, as well as abroad. The Museum is also supported by individual donors, foundations and etc. Besides the permanent exposition of artworks of Armine Galentz and Haroutiun Galentz, and the organization of temporary exhibitions from the museum collections, art exhibitions of contemporary guest artists are held at the “Galentz Museum” as well as a constituent part of the exhibition policy of the museum. 1968 - due to Armine Galentz's efforts, a permanent exhibition of Haroutiun Galentz's works opened to the public in his studio one year after his death.
1946 – Armine and Haroutiun Galentzs started to build their house-studio on the allocated piece of land on the outskirts of Yerevan after they had permanently moved from Beirut to Soviet Armenia
«Կալենց թանգարանը» հանրության առաջ իր դռները բացեց 2010 թ-նի ապրիլի 27-ին, դառնալով Երեւանի արվեստի դինամիկ տարածքներից մեկը. «Կալենց թանգարանը» կրում է 20-րդ դարի հայ ամենաազդեցիկ նկարիչներից մեկի՝ Հարություն Կալենցի (1910-1967) անունը: Այն առաջին մասնավոր թանգարանն է Հայաստանում որը ստեղծվել է Կալենց ընտանիքի՝ նրա տիկնոջ՝ նկարչուհի Արմինե Կալենցի և որդիների` Սարո և Արմեն Կալենցների միահամուռ ջանքերով: Նրանց մասնավոր հավաքածուները դրվեցին թանգարանային ցուցադրությունների հիմքում:
«Կալենց թանգարանի» զարգացման գործում այսօր իր շոշափելի ներդրումն ունի Հայաստանի Հանրապետության մշակույթի նախարարությունը:

1968թ. Արմինե Կալենցի ջանքերի շնորհիվ Հարություն Կալենցի մահվանից մեկ տարի անց նրա արվեստանոցում այցելուների համար բացվեց Հ. Կալենցի աշխատանքների մշտական ցուցադրություն:
1946թ. Կալենցների ընտանիքը տեղափոխվում է Խորհրդային Հայաստան մշտական բնակության. Այդ ժամանակ Երևանի ծայրամասում հատկացված հողակտորի վրա Արմինե և Հարություն Կալենցները սկսեցին կառուցել իրենց տուն-արվեստանոցը:
