«Sewing Hope for Armenia» is a social initiative started by Armenian women for Armenia after the 2020 Artsakh war, in which more than 6,000 Armenian soldiers were killed and more than 90,000 people were displaced from their homes. We brought together those who lost everything to show them a new way and give them the desired hope for a better tomorrow.
«Sewing Hope for Armenia» began with a dream
of living for a living! On January 8, 2021, just two months after the end of the war, at the initiative of two Armenian women who could not leave their sisters in need, the «Sewing Hope for Armenia» Center on Marshal Baghramyan Avenue in Yerevan opened its doors to welcome 14 women. Each had been carefully selected for their plight caused by the armed conflict. Having lost their loved ones, their homes, their jobs and their normal lives, but having not lost hope, these women came to us with a desire to build their future. DURING THIS TIME WE:
Founded the Armenian «Women Helping Women» community;
Founded a unique sewing business;
Better conditions have been created and jobs have been provided for more than 20 women;
Started training courses and master classes for women;
Set up the production of home textiles, handbags, accessories, and toys, as well as developed seasonal collections and catalog products for women, men, and children;
Sewn more than two hundred unique items;
Launched an online store;
Presented our products at the Dubai International Fashion Exhibition, at the Armenian National Assembly, at the Rotary International Charity Event, at events within the framework of EXPO 2020, as well as among the Armenian communities and Diasporas;
We invited designers and brand ambassadors for cooperation;
Started working on attracting partners and sponsors;
We are talking about cooperation with international communities, Armenian diasporas and women's organizations. PRIORITIES:
We work to make sure that everyone who wants to – can! We help our women become stronger, have decent jobs, and carry on the traditions of their ancestors every day. Our priority is the combination of the past and the future, united under the word HOPE. H – Humanity. «Sewing Hope for Armenia» is important to every person! That's why we created a sewing sisterhood that brings together women who have lost everything to give them hope for a better tomorrow. We feel it is our duty to reach out to our sisters who give their whole lives without expecting anything in return. We believe in them and give them the desired opportunity to live a life of dignity and comfort. P – Product. «Sewing Hope for Armenia» products are a reflection of the unique stories of strong Armenian women and convey a love for the richness and greatness of Armenian cultural heritage through every stitch. E – Education. «Sewing Hope for Armenia» helps sisters get an education and learn the craft of sewing, showing them the way to achieve their goals and ensuring the sustainability of their future and that of their children. At this stage, we are helping 12 Armenian women and their families to live and earn money with dignity. Our team consists of top-level specialists, with the mentors sitting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Our sewing factory is in Armenia and the marketing executive from Ukraine, each of whom works in its own area of responsibility to achieve common goals. PRODUCTS:
The «Sewing Hope for Armenia» project team decided to create products that would emphasize and continue Armenian traditions, introducing the world to the richness of our culture. The project participants are ambassadors of centuries-old Armenian values, so they emphasized fabric, colors, patterns, ornaments, and symbols in their work. Working with traditional fabrics, our women create Home textiles, Bags, Pouches, Accessories, Toys.
