Electronic Music Tirana (EMT) was born from Gerti Loshi’s uncompromising passion for electronic music and his desire to give Tirana a new cultural identity. Between 2007–2010, in a period when electronic music was almost unknown in the Balkans and difficult to accept, EMT became a bold movement that changed the Albanian artistic scene forever. With few contacts but a lot of vision, EMT began its j
ourney in small but energetic venues: Buda Bar, Venue, Lollipop, Mumja, Folie, a new terrain where young people experienced for the first time the first forms of electronic events in Albania. A few years later, EMT’s visionaries set up the first genuine techno clubs in the country: Bus Station, Decadenca, Daily Bar Tirana, People Bar, giving the capital a new urban culture. EMT was the bridge that brought to Albania artists from Kosovo, North Macedonia, Croatia, Romania, Germany, England, Israel, Canada, Denmark, Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Latvia, Greece, creating strong collaborations and warm artistic relationships. Big names of the world scene performed on the EMT stage such as:
Pascal F.E.O.S, Dubfire, HOBO (Minus), John Digweed, Robert Babicz, Dave Mothersole, Petar Dundov, Mira Kater, Christopher Schwarzwalder, Behrouz, Deborah De Luca, Oliver Huntemann, WARTEMAL, Charlie, Lake People, ARGY, Terry Francis, Eddie Richards, Natal Cole, and many, many others. It is impossible not to mention the hundreds of Albanian artists that EMT has supported and promoted since day one. In 2014, EMT became a youth foundation, investing in concerts, festivals and cultural projects, strengthening its role as the institution that built the foundations of the electronic music market in Albania. The culmination of this vision was Soundwave Festival Albania, the first authentic electronic festival in the country, held in southern Albania, which gathered over 3,500 young people from Europe and the Balkans. Firstwave Albania, the festival's official pre-party, also reached equally large dimensions, gathering over 2,000 participants. From the coast in the north to the lakes, mountains, fields and rivers, EMT organized dozens of open-airs that became legends of a generation.
2024 From this movement was also born Underground Agimi, a consolidated entity in the electronic music industry, headquartered in Tirana. Agimi has transformed from a club and art center into a full-fledged music platform operating in events, production, artist management and electronic market development. As a contemporary cultural center, Agimi supports young artists, producers, DJs and exhibitions, strengthening the role of the capital as a regional center of electronic music. It is the root of every modern electronic culture in Albania. It is a heritage, a community and an artistic identity.
