“Revolucioni i Flamingove” sfidoi një nga bindjet më të përhapura në shoqërinë shqiptare: atë se shqiptarët nuk bashkohen dhe nuk e ngrenë zërin për të drejtat e tyre. Ajo që nisi si një protestë për mbrojtjen e Zonës së Mbrojtur të Zvërnecit u shndërrua shumë shpejt në një lëvizje paqësore qytetare, ku mijëra njerëz, që prej 31 majit 2026, dalin çdo ditë në shesh dhe marshojnë së bashku. Shumë shpejt, protesta nuk fliste më vetëm për Zvërnecin. Ajo u bë një hapësirë ku mijëra qytetarë shprehën pakënaqësitë e tyre për korrupsionin, sistemin shëndetësor, arsimin, mungesën e meritokracisë, emigrimin e të rinjve dhe një shtet që, sipas tyre, ka dështuar t’u shërbejë qytetarëve të vet. Mbi të gjitha, ajo u shndërrua në një revoltë kundër klasës së vjetër politike dhe në një kërkesë për një frymë të re përfaqësimi.

Çfarë mund të na tregojë një zog ne kafaz, nje ore e prishur ne muret e qytetit, karrige e braktisur apo një rrjet kabllosh elektrike për qytetin ku jetojmë? Për artistin vizual dhe fotografin Olson Lamaj, këto fragmente të zakonshme të peizazhit urban nuk janë thjesht detaje të rastësishme. Ato janë gjurmë të historisë, të tranzicionit dhe të mënyrës se si politika, kujtesa dhe ideologjia materializohen në hapësirën e përditshme. Qyteti si ideologji. Objekti si simptomë.

Në serinë fotografike Between Pattern and Shadow, Olson Lamaj nuk fotografon monumentet apo imazhin e njohur të qytetit. Vështrimi i tij ndalet te fragmentet e përditshme: një karrige plastike, një rrjet kabllosh, një gardh i improvizuar, një qen endacak apo një sipërfaqe betoni. Objekte që zakonisht i kalojmë pa i vënë re, por që në fotografinë e tij shndërrohen në gjurmë të historisë, tranzicionit dhe transformimeve të qytetit shqiptar.

Në intervistën e publikuar në blogun e Tatì Space, Olson Lamaj flet për kërkimin e tij artistik, për mënyrën se si fotografia mund ta lexojë qytetin si një tekst kulturor dhe për arsyen pse kaosi urban, improvizimi dhe papërsosmëria janë bërë pjesë e gjuhës së tij vizuale.

Olson Lamaj — The City as Ideology, the Object as Symptom

How can an abandoned plastic chair, a web of electrical cables, a stray dog, or an unfinished concrete structure reveal the hidden narratives of a city?

In our latest blog post, visual artist and photographer Olson Lamaj reflects on his photographic practice and discusses his series "Between Pattern and Shadow". The conversation explores urban fragments, post-socialist transformation, visual ideology, everyday objects, and the ways photography can uncover the invisible structures embedded in contemporary urban life.

Description: Each photo is shot in 35 mm film using the multiply exposure technique. During this season, I attempted to capture a season in the state of change. All seasons are temporary, they come and go with time. I walked around a small city where my parents now live in Saskatchewan Canada. I tried not to capture the scene, but something of the scene, something that stands in for the whole. Using out of focus and multiply exposures, I hope to capture an image that captures a sense of time, a specific sensibility that the viewer themselves puts forth into each image”
