Who we are

The Albanian Visual Arts Network is a network of independent organisations that operate in the field of contemporary visual arts in Albania. The network understands itself as a union of entities with diverse approaches but that share the same interest of operating and addressing their urgencies with the language of visual arts. AVAN was founded during the Vlora Art Meeting 2024 by ke

y stakeholders of the visual arts scene of Albanian on 25 of May 2024. What we do

The main aim of AVAN is to strengthen the contemporary art scene in Albania by gathering the scene to create an inspirational, collective framework which fosters collaboration and unity in future endeavors. AVAN advocates for sustainable funding and better working conditions for contemporary visual arts organizations. Our values

AVAN works to ensure transparency within the network and in relations with institutions, to encourage artistic research, critical thinking and freedom of expression. AVAN is open to all formal and informal contemporary art organizations operating in Albania. The network works in solidarity with visual artists in Albania.

VAM 2025 | Film Program by Ekrani I Artit

As part of this year’s Vlora Art Meeting, Albanian Visual Arts Network and Galeria e Bregdetit welcomed Ekrani i Artit with a powerful short film program curated around the theme of community and connection hosted by Tea Paci.

Featured Films:
– Acqua, porta via tutto by Roland Sejko
– Between 10 and 100 hertz by Emilien Dubuc
– sad sad sad sad sad summer by Ornela Alia

From the elemental force of water in archival footage, to the disappearing vibrations of a city in flux, to quiet, vulnerable moments in forgotten corners—these works remind us that community is not only built, but imagined, remembered, and felt.

Surrounded by the sea, AVAN members came together to reflect, exchange, and reconnect — strengthening bonds across independent artistic communities, and affirming the role of art in shaping contemporary societies.

Vlora Art Meeting is made possible with the support of the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation and with the generous hospitality of Hotel Picasso Radhimë.

VAM is part of EU Delegation’s Europe Week 2025, in the framework of International Culture Weeks.

VAM 2025 | DAY 2

The second day of Vlora Art Meeting 2025 unfolded with inspiring energy, meaningful conversations, and a shared commitment to strengthening Albania’s independent contemporary art scene.

Roundtable discussions brought together many of the representatives of independent art initiatives to reflect on the challenges and possibilities we face collectively — from sustainable collaboration to institutional support and creative freedom.

As part of the EU Delegation’s Europe Week 2025, VAM Day 2 embodied core European values: solidarity, cultural diversity, critical dialogue, and freedom of artistic expression. In this unique coastal setting, we witnessed how commune goals can create bridges — between people and perspectives — and how networks like AVAN are crucial in shaping a more inclusive and resilient cultural future.

VAM 2025 | DAY 1

South by the Sea 4: Eternity and a Day opened on the 16th of May at Galeria e Bregdetit, marking a powerful start to Vlora Art Meeting 2025.

From ecological concerns to urban pressure, from memory to intimate terrain, their works unfold layered stories where nature and society intertwine, clash, and transform.

🗓 On view until June 15, 2025
📍 Galeria e Bregdetit, Rradhimë

📽️ Ekrani i Artit is excited to present a short film program at this year’s AVAN meeting, featuring Acqua, porta via tutto by Roland Sejko, Between 10 and 100 hertz by Emilien Dubuc, and sad sad sad sad sad summer by Ornela Alia.

The program brings together three distinct cinematic approaches to the question of community and connection. From archival images and the elemental force of water, to the subtle vibrations of a neighborhood facing erasure, to moments of tenderness and vulnerability in overlooked spaces, these films explore how we live together—through memory, sound, and small gestures. They suggest that community is not only a structure but an act of shared imagination.

See you by the sea! 🌊

During Vlora Art Meeting:
South by the Sea 4: Eternity and a Day brings together four Albanian artists, Fatlum Doçi, Blerta Hoçia, Erdiola Kanda, and Olson Lamaj, who in a polyphonic ensemble bring to Galeria e Bregdetit a collective reflection on the social, historic and ecological aspects of the landscape of southern Albania. Through their unique perspectives, the exhibition aims to unfold stories interwoven with the nature and social life of these regions, focusing on the mutual influences between the natural world and human interventions. The exhibition explores the tensions between preservation and exploitation, centering on the impact of urban development, collective memory, and the individual’s intimate relationship with the environment. Each artist employs their chosen medium to convey a distinct narrative, creating a poetic and critical dialogue around these layered landscapes, rich with history and complex identities.
