Combat Communications

Combat Communications Combat Communications [CC] was founded in 2010 as a result of a flurry of art based activities in Kabul and a need for them to be united under one flag.

After the pioneering graffiti campaign by some foreigners in Kabul: Cost of War, it was decided that an icon, logo, banner was needed as an ‘face’ to this group that wished to be anonymous. CC was created as Identity for the evolving art scene. After the success of the project many other projects requested to be associated with CC and their groundbreaking style of application. Each time a new proj

ect was added it brought more colour and variety to the group and strengthened the overall perception that Afghanistan was not left in the dark ages and had vibrant and motivated art scene. Since these achievements CC has expanded its repertoire to film festivals, installation art and performance.

The proxy Afghan Olympic team is flying the tri-coloured red, green and black flag, not the black & white flag in Paris. Just like the Afghan proxy embassies scattered around the world, most Afghans from the 'democracy-project-generation' don't live in Afghanistan anymore. So while this inclusion in the Olympics is progress for the Afghan diaspora, it's certainly not the Taliban opening up. The Taliban were banned from the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and now again in Paris 2024.
