Bringing together works by Dalal Al-Obaidi, Hawazin Alotaibi, Hayfa Algwaiz, Latifa Alajlan, and Roudhah Al Mazrouei, the exhibition reflects a generation of painters from the Gulf expanding and challenging the language of contemporary painting through deeply personal and culturally nuanced approaches.

The exhibition continues through 11 July 2026.

Today is the final day of Art Dubai.

Red Mountain captures Al Mazrouei’s engagement with rugged terrains, rendered here with deep, saturated reds, topped off with a foamy sky, in her signature shade of blue. ‘This one was a huge canvas, which I primed with a reddish-pinkish colour. I then did a simple charcoal sketch, laying out how I want my mountain peaks to look, where I want the water in the valley to be. Then I started with the colours. I start with the sky, so the blue that you see on top is the sky. You work around the line, you build, you add more elements, and it reaches a natural conclusion’.

While her work resonates with viewers who know similar environments to her own, Al Mazrouei enjoys the universality of the stories she tells in her landscapes, which are at once specific to her background and yet relatable and emotionally resonant to all. This is, in part, due to the intensely personal nature of the work.

Visit us at Booth C14 in Arena Hall 1.

Five Painters opens tonight at Taymour Grahne Projects. Join us from 6-9 pm for the opening celebration.

‘Memory is the ground these five painters share, but it is not memory as sentiment, as retrieval, as the soft return to what was. It is memory as material, something that can be reworked, layered, imagined, and questioned. Pierre Nora explains that “Memory is a perpetually actual phenomenon, a bond tying us to the eternal present; history is a representation of the past.” Memory is always evolving, tied to the matrix of remembering and forgetting, resistant to the clean narratives that history imposes on it. These painters reveal their intention is not to document, nor to grieve, but to remain within the unresolved and the uncertain.’

Our presentation of works by Roudhah Al Mazrouei continues at Art Dubai until Sunday.

With the paintings at Art Dubai, Al Mazrouei takes us deep into her homeland and shares its stories. Some of the works depict scenes from a small village, Siji, where ‘waterfalls, valleys, frogs, truffles’ abound. Marble is mined from the mountains. And the lush, verdant territory thrives, to a historic infrastructure which brought life and growth to the region.

See these stunning works for yourself - visit us at Booth C14 in Arena Hall 1.

Five Painters opens tomorrow at Taymour Grahne Projects in Dubai. Join us from 6 - 9 pm for the opening.

‘It is evident that the artists selected for The Five Painters exhibition share a quality that is immediately recognisable and difficult to name precisely: a refusal to resolve into full legibility. An insistence on remaining at the threshold where something is always within the tumultuous act of becoming; it questions what it means to make work from inside a moment that is still forming itself?

What this generation has done with that possibility is to expand the definitions and challenge the boundaries of painting through their cultural contexts. These artists don’t necessarily represent a singular Gulf, but a nuanced one that is free from construct and represents a more reflective image of the artistic approaches and particular gazes this chartered identity can be morphed into, which in itself is an act of defiance and acceptance.’

Art Dubai opens to the public tomorrow. Join us at booth C14 in Arena Hall 1 to see brand new works by Roudhah Al Mazrouei.

In this video, Roudhah shares insights into her practice with reference to a work featured in our recent Dubai gallery presentation.

Underlying her new paintings for Art Dubai, driving the emotional impact and simmering tension, is Al Mazrouei’s sustained interest in the fragility of memory, particularly as it relates to oral histories. While her work resonates with viewers who know similar environments to her own, Al Mazrouei enjoys the universality of the stories she tells in her landscapes, which are at once specific to her background and yet relatable and emotionally resonant to all. This is, in part, due to the intensely personal nature of the work.

Morteza Khakshoor’s paintings explore the psychological weight of interior life through figures that appear both present and withdrawn. In The Leak, a solitary figure stands within a sparse, carefully constructed space, surrounded by vessels, fragments, and shifting planes of colour.

The composition is defined by tension. Objects feel symbolically charged yet unresolved, while the figure’s posture, hands held behind his back, suggests containment or restraint. Khakshoor’s use of flattened perspective and heightened color destabilizes the scene, creating a quiet unease that lingers beneath its stillness.

Rather than narrating directly, the work unfolds as an emotional and psychological landscape, where gestures, objects, and spatial relationships hint at vulnerability, control, and the fragile boundaries of self.

Award-winning Emirati-born artist and researcher Roudhah Al Mazrouei (b. 2003, Al Ain, UAE) pursues a multidisciplinary practice, encompassing painting, public art, film, sculpture, and printmaking. In this video, Roudhah reflects on her practice, focussing on works featured in our recent gallery presentation in Dubai. We are pleased to be presenting all new works at Art Dubai next week.

Having studied in Abu Dhabi and London, and based in Abu Dhabi, Al Mazrouei’s presentation with Taymour Grahne Projects at Art Dubai 2026, brings a series of new landscapes, works emerging deep from the heart of her practice. In each of these new paintings, the artist reflects upon the dramatic landscape of the Northern Emirates, that wild, rugged terrain of her childhood where she recalls many happy days playing amidst the palm trees and farmlands.

See new works by Roudhah Al Mazrouei at Art Dubai from Thursday 14 May – Sunday 17 May 2026.

Gail Spaien’s paintings position the window as both a threshold and a point of quiet contemplation. In Blue Window, the view opens onto a luminous, dreamlike waterscape, where swans drift across a surface patterned with light, rhythm, and reflection.

Framed by delicately rendered curtains, the scene oscillates between interior and exterior, intimacy and distance. Spaien’s signature use of decorative patterning and subtly off-kilter perspective creates a sense of stillness that feels both observed and imagined. The repetition of forms across water and sky produces a meditative visual cadence, inviting the viewer into a space defined by calm, familiarity, and gentle reverie.
